DULUTH -- Your pooch could meet the "mayor of the dog park" this weekend at the grand opening of Duluth's new Chattapoochee Dog Park.
A ribbon cutting and the announcement of the four-legged mayor, selected by Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, and festivities will continue until 3 p.m.
The sales-tax funded project, located in Rogers Bridge Park along the Chattahoochee River, includes a one-acre dog park for small dogs with an interactive fountain and a two-acre large dog park with an interactive fountain, seating areas, dog agility equipment and greenspace.
The festivities include dog-friendly vedors, activities and a free kid zone.
