SUWANEE -- As a result of the retirement of a trio of veteran school principals, the Gwinnett County Board of Education voted to approve three leaders to take the helm at Pharr Elementary, Five Forks Middle and Archer High School.
Mary Thomas will take the place of Jerry Raymond as principal at Pharr Elementary. Thomas will be moving from the Parkview Cluster to the Grayson Cluster. Thomas is a member of the school district's 2012 Quality-Plus Leader Academy, Aspiring Principal program.
Peggy Goodman was tapped as the new principal of Five Forks Middle within the Brookwood Cluster as principal Mary Hensien has announced her retirement.
Goodman has served as principal at Gwin Oaks Elementary since 2006. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal at Hull Middle.
Ken Johnson will make the transition to Archer High as Principal Charles "Buck" Buchanan announced his retirement.
Johnson has served as principal at Berkmar High since 2004. Prior to that, he served at Berkmar as an assistant principal, as a teacher and as a coach.
