Silent auction benefits seniors

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services plans its annual silent auction for 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 26 at Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett.

The auction is the biggest fundraising event of the year for the group. A number of items will be auctioned off, including sports packages, vacation getaways and admission to Atlanta-area tourist attractions. Live entertainment and food will be provided by Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett.

The Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to raising funds to privately support or supplement select senior programs in Gwinnett County.

Delmar Gardens Executive Director Jennifer Thilo said she felt "fortunate to be part of the lives of seniors every day ... I am also fortunate to be part of a company that truly believes in being a positive part of the community."

The theme for the auction is the Olympics.

Advance tickets are $25 or $30 at the door. Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett is located on Club Drive in Lawrenceville. For more information, contact Thilo at (770) 923-3100 or Celia Moore at (404) 936-2954.
