DECATUR -- Greater Atlanta Christian received home runs from three different players as the Spartans cruised 13-2 over Decatur in five innings in a Region 6-AA game. GAC improved to 14-8 overall and 7-4 in the region.
John LaMay led the attack, going 2-for-3 with a grand slam, while Rafe Chapple went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer. Ross Wood also added a solo homer, while Daino Deas finished 2-for-4.
Patrick Stone (3-4) picked up the win, giving up three hits in five innings.
Grayson 5, Loganville 2
LOGANVILLE -- Grayson picked up six strong innings from starter Griffen Ebel as the Rams toppled Loganville 5-2 in a non-region game.
Ebel allowed one earned run with six strikeouts in bumping his record up to 6-1.
Carter Collins sparked the offense for the Rams, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Jeril Dawson went 1-for-3 with two runs. Jack Banda also added a hit, run and an RBI for the Rams (16-5, 9-2).
Milton 4, Norcross 2
ALPHARETTA -- Milton held on to top Norcross 4-2 on Tuesday night.
Jascanel Ferreras went 2-for-3 for the Blue Devils (8-13, 4-9), including a double and a run, while Griffin Helms was 1-for-3 with a double, stolen base and a run. Zack Jones added a hit and an RBI, while Andrew Gray and Jess Ramsey each had a hit.
Tanner Maloof pitched four innings in taking the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts, while Hampton Floyd followed with two innings of work, surrendering one run on two hits with two strikeouts.
Hebron 15, Athens Christian 0
ATHENS -- Hebron needed just four innings to post a 15-0 win over Athens Christian on Tuesday night in a Region 8-A game.
Tyler Hutch went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs, while Jordan Hillyer finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs. P.J. Westbury added three hits and an RBI, while Brady Shoppe went 2-for-3 for Hebron (19-2, 14-0).
Westbury started and earned the win, pitching three innings, while Michael Dussling delivered one scoreless inning.
Covenant 9, Holy Ground 2
ROOPVILLE -- Covenant Christian recorded a 9-2 win over Holy Ground on Tuesday night.
Mill Creek 3, Centennial 2
ROSWELL -- Mill Creek edged Centennial 3-2 on Tuesday night, securing the win with a 5-4 advantage on penalty kicks.
Lauren Tanner scored twice in regulation for the Hawks (11-4-1, 5-2), getting assists from Megan Hatfield and Alex Ford.
South 10, Miller Grove 0
SNELLVILLE -- Kelly Geary scored five goals on Tuesday night in leading South Gwinnett to a 10-0 romp over Miller Grove in a non-region match.
Two of Geary's goals were assisted by Caitlin Brainard and Deja Stanek. Also scoring one goal each was Ana Teodoro and Stanek.
Mallory Sayre also put in a hat trick after spending most of the first half at goalkeeper. South evened its record at 8-8.
Archer 2, Johns Creek 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer upped its record to 9-5 on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Johns Creek in a non-region match.
Scoring one goal each for the Tigers was Angie Cruz and Shelby Pallone.
Fellowship 3, Wesleyan 0
ROSWELL -- Fellowship Christian scored three goals in the second half to come away with a 3-0 shutout of Wesleyan on Tuesday night.
Wesleyan received strong defensive efforts from Abby Daws, Elise Abernathy and keeper Hannah Duane.
Parkview 1, Central 0
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Parkview stayed unbeaten in Region 8-AAAAA on Tuesday with a 1-0 shutout of Central Gwinnett.
Zachary Welch scored the lone goal off an assist from Raymond Muro, while Diego Casillas earned the shutout at keeper. Parkview improved to 12-2-2 overall.
Mountain View 5, Clarke Central 5
ATHENS -- Dustin Stone scored two goals for Mountain View on Tuesday night as the Bears battled Clarke Central to a 5-5 tie.
Adding one goal each for Mountain View (7-8-1) was Jamal Golding, Jason Sayers and Diego Sanchez.
Providence 3, Pinecrest 0
CUMMING -- Ted Perry recorded two assists on Tuesday night in helping Providence to a 3-0 win over Pinecrest Academy.
Perry's assists went to Josh Platillero and Caleb McQuaig, while Taylor Henry provided the third goal on a penalty kick for the Stars (10-7, 7-2).
Wesleyan 2, Fellowship 1
ROSWELL -- Wesleyan scored a pair of goals in the final four minutes to snatch a 2-1 win over Fellowship Christian in an Area 4-A game on Tuesday night.
Paul Hogan provided the first goal off an assist from Will Sharon to tie the match at 1-1 with four minutes left, and Eric Sunderman put in an unassisted goal two minutes later for the eventual game winner.
Wesleyan improved to 9-5-1 overall and 5-3 in the area.
Wesleyan girls take second in region
ATLANTA -- Wesleyan girls qualified for the Class A state tournament on Tuesday by finishing second in the Region 5-A tournament at Blackburn Tennis Center.
Wesleyan rolled through the semifinals by sweeping Pace Academy 3-0. The Wolves picked up three singles wins from Megan Kelly, Savannah Strickland and Sarah Settlage to advance to the finals against Mount Pisgah.
The Wolves (15-4) had the tables turned on them in the finals as Mount Pisgah posted a 3-0 sweep to take the region title.
Mill Creek advances to 7-AAAAA finals
DACULA -- Mill Creek topped both Mountain View and Peachtree Ridge on Tuesday at Hamilton Mill to reach the finals of the Region 7-AAAAA tournament. The Hawks (16-4) will face Collins Hill this morning at 9 a.m. at Hamilton Mill for the region title.
The Hawks opened the tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Mountain View in the quarterfinals. Quentin Lavender and Adam Gonterman each won in singles play, while Brad Adkins and Travis Hanes rounded out the sweep with a No. 1 doubles win.
Mill Creek then faced Peachtree Ridge and edged the Lions 3-2. Lavender and Gonterman again posted singles win, while Tyler Abbott added a No. 3 singles win.
Collins Hill sweeps way to 7-AAAAA finals
DACULA -- Collins Hill met little resistance in the Region 7-AAAAA tournament on Tuesday at Hamilton Mill as the Eagles swept both Meadowcreek and North Gwinnett 3-0. The pair of sweeps puts the Eagles into today's finals at 9 a.m. against Mill Creek at Hamilton Mill.
Scoring points in both matches with wins were Chris Clark at No. 1 singles, Tyler Kallgren at No. 2 singles and Jake Inderrieden and Marcus Maloney at No. 1 doubles. Collins Hill improved to 17-2.
Wesleyan boys halted by weather
ATLANTA -- Wesleyan will have to wait until this afternoon to complete its trek through the Region 5-A tournament as rain washed out the Wolves midway through Tuesday's action of the Region 5-A tournament at Blackburn Tennis Center.
Wesleyan opened the afternoon with a 3-1 loss to Pace Academy, getting its point from a No. 1 doubles win from Andrew Dorman and Zach Taylor. The second match against Holy Innocents' will be played today.
Hebron takes second
STATHAM -- Hebron took second place in the Region 8-A tournament on Tuesday at Georgia Club, taking runner-up to Athens Academy.
Darby Gentry led Hebron with an 83, which was good enough for the round's second-lowest score. The second-place finish qualified the Lions for the Class A state tournament next month.
Holy Innocents' defeats Wesleyan
SMYRNA -- Holy Innocents' was seven strokes better on Tuesday afternoon as the Golden Lions defeated Wesleyan 76 to 83 at Legacy Club.
Low scorers for the Wolves were Janie Harper with 40 and Riley Henning with 43.
Hebron's Cox earns state berth
STATHAM -- Phillip Cox of Hebron earned a spot in the Class A state tournament next month by shooting 77 in the Region 8-A tournament on Tuesday at Georgia Club. Cox qualified for the state tournament by being the low-medalist from a non-qualifying team.
Cox's 77 led Hebron to a fourth-place finish, three spots behind winner Athens Academy.
Cokely shoots two-under in GAC win
AUSTELL -- Greater Atlanta Christian topped Lovett on Tuesday afternoon, beating the Lions 158 to 171 at Dogwood Golf Club.
Spencer Cokely led GAC with a two-under 35.
Grayson 16, Parkview 1
LILBURN -- Grayson improved to 9-4 on Tuesday with a 16-1 win over Parkview.
Zach Dirkse logged six goals and two assists to lead the Rams, while Ben Mertz added four goals and two assists. Also helped were Nathan Yetter with a goal and two assists and Hunter Dutton with a goal and an assist. Josh Parris and Danny Tressler shared time at keeper with six saves.
Centennial 17, Mill Creek 10
HOSCHTON -- Centennial outlasted Mill Creek for a 17-10 win over the Hawks on Tuesday night.
Leading Mill Creek (6-7) was Nick Kozlowski with four goals and one assist. Andrew Eubanks added two goals and an assist, while Alec Bussink finished with two goals.
Will Bryan also had a goal with two assists, while Will Peek recorded three assists. Brett Bailey also scored a goal.
Pace 19, Wesleyan 9
ATLANTA -- Despite getting three goals each from Blake Davis and Miles Laughlin, Wesleyan fell 19-9 to Pace Academy on Tuesday night.
Jake Miller finished with two goals and an assist for Wesleyan (4-5, 3-3), while Blake Center added a goal and an assist. Laughlin also tallied an assist.
Chattahoochee 15, Wesleyan 8
ALPHARETTA -- Chattahoochee topped Wesleyan 15-8 in a match played on Monday night.
Leading Wesleyan with two goals each were Lindsay Moore, Maddy Brehmer and Courtney O'Leary.
