UGA to hold memorial service for journalism prof

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- The University of Georgia's journalism school is set to hold a public memorial service for professor Conrad Fink.

Students, former students, colleagues and friends plan to gather to share remembrances of a tough, inspiring and beloved professor in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

At the time of his death in January, Fink held the William S. Morris Chair in Newspaper Strategy and Management at the Grady College and directed the James M. Cox Jr. Institute for Newspaper Management Studies.

Before retiring from professional journalism in 1977, Fink rose from reporter to foreign correspondent to vice president and secretary of The Associated Press

The service is set for 2 p.m. April 27 in the Chapel and will be followed by a reception at the Red & Black newspaper.
