PREP ROUNDUP: Bryan's grand slam powers Buford baseball to win

ROSWELL -- Josh Bryan smacked a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to lift Buford to a 8-6 victory over Blessed Trinity in Region 6-AA baseball on Friday.

The Wolves saw an early 4-1 lead evaporate into a 5-4 deficit until they loaded the bases with no outs in advance of Bryan's homer. Troy Herterick was the winning pitcher in relief. Sam Clay and Austin Upshaw also homered for Buford (13-8, 10-0).


Lanier 4, Chestatee 0

SUGAR HILL -- Matthew Ramsay threw a complete-game shutout Friday night, lifting Lanier to a 4-0 Region 8-AAA victory over Chestatee. Ramsay allowed two hits and struck out six in the win. Austin Wood collected two hits and a RBI while Kameron Doster also had two hits. Trenton Little and Taylor Grant each had a RBI for the Longhorns (11-8, 9-6).

GAC 13, Clarkston 1

CLARKSTON -- Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Clarkston 13-1 in Region 6-AA, Division B action Friday. Chase Markham picked up the win by throwing three innings, giving up one run and striking out four Angoras. Jordan Dudek paced the offense with two hits.

Mill Creek 7, Collins Hill 3

HOSCHTON -- Shane Seckinger ran his record to 5-0 as he pitched Mill Creek to a 7-3 victory over Collins Hill in Region 7-AAAAA on Friday. Seckinger went the distance, striking out 10 Eagles and allowing five hits and three runs. Mill Creek jumped out to a 4-0 lead but Collins Hill trailed only 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth when the Hawks plated three runs to ice the game. Tim Hernandez had a hit and two RBIs and Tad Newman collected two hits and an RBI for Mill Creek.

Hebron Christian 10, Lakeview 0

DACULA -- Jordan Hillyer and Tyler Hutch combined on a five-inning no-hitter as Hebron Christian defeated Lakeview 10-0 in a Region 8-A matchup. Hillyer pitched four innings and struck out nine for the Lions (17-2, 13-0). Hillyer also contributed at the plate with two hits and two RBIs.

Mountain View 5, Duluth 1

DULUTH -- A.J. Moore pitched a one-hitter to lift Mountain View to a 5-1 win over Duluth in Region 7-AAAAA. Moore struck out nine for the Bears (13-7, 6-7), only yielding one unearned run. Pacing the offense were Brandon Griffin, Garry Gwaltney, Beau Blair and Peyton Fore, who each had two hits.

Dacula 5, Archer 1

DACULA -- Matt Cole pitched five innings, allowing only one unearned run to help Dacula to a 5-1 Region 8-AAAAA victory on Friday. The Falcons (5-17, 4-7) were led by Brandyn Bartlett and Dustin Fieber, who each had two hits. Shannon Haney pitched two innings for the save.

Girls Lacrosse

North Gwinnett 12, Peachtree Ridge 11

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett defeated Peachtree Ridge 12-11 Friday night. North was led by Lauren Aycock, who had six goals. Sylvia Chou had four goals and an assist and Erica Smith had two goals and an assist for the Bulldogs (8-4, 6-1). Michelle Fortier led the Lions (10-2, 5-1) with six goals and an assist. Rachel Harper had a goal and three assists and Kayla Jones had two goals and an assist. The win by the Bulldogs puts the region in a three way tie between North, Peachtree Ridge and Mill Creek.

Mill Creek 19, Eastside Gainesville (Fla.) 4

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Mill Creek improved its record to 10-1 with a 19-4 victory over Eastside of Gainesville (Fla.) on Friday. Rachel Gann had four goals and an assist while Tori Windom also had four goals. Noelle Allen chipped in with three goals and two assists and MacKenzie Fagioli had two goals and two assists. Abigail Fitler and Emily Hallberg also added two goals for the Hawks.

Boys Lacrosse

North Gwinnett 8, Peachtree Ridge 6

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett defeated Peachtree Ridge 8-6 behind three goals from Ronnie Adams. Nico Hupler had two goals while Spencer Howey, Matt Palmer and James Shinkus each scored for the Bulldogs.

Girls Soccer

Grayson 6, Shiloh 0

SNELLVILLE -- Grayson used three goals by Ashley Griffin to defeat Shiloh 6-0 in Region 8-AAAAA Friday night. The Rams (10-4-1,4-2) also received goals from Alexa Webb, Allison Pickett and Brittany Miller.

Hebron Christian 9, Towns County 0

HIAWASSEE -- Hebron Christian Acadamy throttled host Towns County 9-0 Friday. McKenzie Towe, Alexa Allen and Bianca Clark each scored two goals for the Lions (9-2-1, 4-0). Jordan Lowery had a goal and four assists in the victory.

McIntosh 3, GAC 0

NORCROSS -- McIntosh defeated Greater Atlanta Christian 3-0 in girls soccer action Friday night.

Peachtree Ridge 5, Mountain View 1

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Peachtree Ridge used goals from five different players to defeat Mountain View 5-1 Friday night. Phoebe Palmer, Amanda Ferry, Katie Fitton, Shelby Jennings and Courtney Miller scored for the Lions (11-4, 6-1).

Norcross 6, Meadowcreek 1

NORCROSS -- Maddie Steven netted two goals to lift Norcross to a 6-1 win over Meadowcreek. Also scoring for the Blue Devils (6-10-1, 3-4) were Jordan Brown, Jenna McEachern, Jordan Lewter and Jordan Shapiro.

North Gwinnett 7, Duluth 0

DULUTH -- Brooke Bortles scored a hat trick to lift North Gwinnett to a 7-0 win over Duluth. Caroline Gualdoni scored twice for North (12-5, 6-1), which also received goals from Taylor Burns and Raina Davis.

Lovett 1, Buford 0 (PKs)

ATLANTA -- Lovett defeated Buford (10-5,5-2) 1-0, 5-4 on penalty kicks Friday night.

Hebron 7, Towns County 0

HIAWASSEE -- Hebron Christian defeated Towns County 7-0 on Friday. The Lions (9-5, 4-1) were led by Cole Redman, Ryan Thomas and Ryan Notheis, who each had two goals. Ben Ungerer had a goal and Chris Austin had two assists in the victory.

GAC 4, Wesleyan 1

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Wesleyan 4-1 on Friday. Max Gomas had two goals for the Spartans (10-4-1) while teammates Nash Wagnon and Stevin Bensaig scored one apiece. Cort Coxhead scored for the Wolves (8-5-1).

Grayson 3, Shiloh 0

SNELLVILLE -- Grayson shut out Shiloh 3-0 Friday night. Jon Conner, Arijan Juyanjac and Luke Sigmann scored for the Rams (8-6-1, 3-3). Callen Rhodes recorded the shutout in net for the Rams.

Norcross 2, Meadowcreek 1

NORCROSS -- Norcross (6-10-1) used goals from Juan Martinez and Chase Bailey to defeat Meadowcreek 2-1 Friday night in Region 7-AAAAA.

South 2, Berkmar 1

SNELLVILLE -- Sekou Thornell and Bimi Mbeh scored goals Friday night as South Gwinnett beat Berkmar 2-1 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Parkview 8, Archer 3

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Zachary Welch scored a hat trick to lead Parkview (11-2-2, 6-0) to a 8-3 win over Archer on Friday night. Raymond Muro scored twice while Jonathan Jarrett, Nick Musey and Evan Mayhan each had a goal for the Panthers.

North 2, Duluth 1

DULUTH -- North Gwinnett clinched a state playoff berth with a 2-1 win over Duluth. Kian Pourak scored on a penalty kick for the Bulldogs (9-7-1, 5-2) and Nico Polanco scored on an assist from James Lee.

Brookwood 4, Dacula 1

SNELLVILLE -- Brahan Gamarra scored two goals to lift Brookwood (12-2, 6-0) to a 4-1 win over Dacula (7-9, 2-4). Ebun Terry and Bryson Dorsey also scored for the Broncos.

Peachtree Ridge 5, Mountain View 2

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Jeremy Rector scored a hat trick to help Peachtree Ridge (10-5, 4-3) defeat Mountain View 5-2 on Friday. Juan Herrera and Kevin Zuluaga also scored for the Lions.

Boys Tennis

Peachtree Ridge 4, Greater Atlanta Christian 1

ATLANTA -- Peachtree Ridge defeated GAC 4-1 Friday. Winners for the Lions were Alex Makarenko at No. 1 singles, David Wang at No. 3 singles, Jacob Kukler and Taylor Foote in doubles and Brock Beisel and Alex Peed in doubles. The Spartans' win was notched by Peyton McGuire at No. 2 singles.
