Montie Irene Bunn Dunn of Lilburn, GA, passed away peacefully at Emory Hospice on Thursday, April 12, 2012, surrounded by her family; she was 90 years old. Mrs. Dunn was born on Thursday, June 9, 1921, in Wilson, NC, to parents B.J. Bunn and Ethel Bunn; she was the oldest of 4 children. After graduating from high school, Mrs. Dunn moved to Greenville, NC to work and it was while in Greenville she met Marine 1st Sergeant Robert Burton Dunn. The couple was married on April 12, 1944, in Oak Hill, OH; she passed away on their 68th wedding anniversary. After marriage, the coupled lived in Wilson, NC before moving to Decatur, GA in 1964 where she was a member of Glenwood Hills First Baptist Church. In 1972 the couple moved to Lilburn, GA where Mrs. Dunn worked as head dietician at Mountain Park Elementary for many years before retiring in 1985. Mrs. Dunn remained an active member of the Joy Spreaders Sunday School Class and Mountain Park First Baptist Church for 40 years. Mrs. Dunn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and is preceded in death by an infant son, Jerry Wayne Dunn and her husband of 65 years, Robert Burton Dunn. Mrs. Dunn is survived by her four children; Linda White (John) of Snellville, GA, Janet Phelps (Kevin) of Auburn, AL, Mary Jo Schutz (Skip) of Grayson, GA and Robert Burton Dunn, Jr. (Becky) of Grayson, GA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Jon Camp, Betsy Camp Kovatch, Christina Camp Hightower, Rock White, Andrew Phelps, Meghan Phelps Hutson, Keith Schutz, Nicole Schutz Sanders, Karl Schutz, Rupert Schutz, Renee` Crandall, Robert Burton Dunn, III (Trey) and Tyler Dunn and 15 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. The Service Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Dunn will be held Monday, April 16, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Pastor Doug Cox officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
