AUBURN -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation charged an Auburn man with possessing child pornography this week after investigators found explicit images of a young girl on his home computer, officials said.
Thomas Wakeman, 26, was charged with one felony count of possessing child porn in the Thursday arrest.
Authorities honed in on Wakeman after receiving several cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tips indicated an unknown subject was uploading numerous images of child porn and child erotica to a Photobucket account, and officials traced an IP address associated with that activity to a computer at Wakeman's residence on Saddlecreek Court in Auburn, GBI officials said.
GBI investigators and Gwinnett police reportedly found multiple files of suspected child pornography and seized several computers at Wakeman's home.
Wakeman was being held Friday on $27,700 bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.
The investigation is part of ongoing efforts by the GBI's Internet Crimes Against Children task force to identify people in the child-porn trade. In Georgia, 150 law enforcement agencies are affiliated with the task force.
