A third fatal wreck in a week's span occurred early Friday morning, as Gwinnett County police searched for witnesses in another.
Police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said the single vehicle crash on Interstate 985 sent two people to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third victim was transported in critical condition and later passed away from injuries sustained in the crash.
No further details or identities of the victims were immediately available Friday.
Police also asked Friday that any witnesses to Tuesday's fatal crash in Lawrenceville contact Investigator D. Hammack at 678-442-5628.
That wreck occurred at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road and Sugarloaf Parkway. Kenneth Hayden, 22, of Sugar Hill was killed when his Chevrolet Camaro was struck by a Jeep Cherokee.
Speed and right of way are being investigated in the incident, Ritter said.
A week ago Friday, a married couple from Lawrenceville was killed in a four-vehicle accident on I-985 South. The driver of a box truck involved in that crash, 38-year-old Lithonia resident Stephen Scott, has been charged with two counts of second-degree vehicular homicide.
