LAWRENCEVILLE -- Excitement about Tim Tebow's visit to 12Stone Church has spread through Gwinnett and metro Atlanta, but the date for the unabashed Christian's appearance in Lawrenceville has changed to May 4 instead of the original date of May 2.
"Contractual obligations came into play as a result of Tim's recent trade to the New York Jets," said John Hull, CEO of EQUIP, an organization geared toward the development of effective international Christian leaders. "We hope the change doesn't create too many problems for supporters and those who have already purchased tickets."
EQUIP Board Member and 12Stone Pastor Kevin Myers also hopes the public can accommodate the change.
"Although not an ideal situation, the date change from Wednesday to Friday does open up the possibility for more people to attend a weekend evening event," he said in a press release.
Tebow is well-known for mission trips, sideline prayers and a tireless work ethic. After a Heisman Trophy-winning college career at Florida, his pro ambitions floundered until midseason last year, when he led the Denver Broncos to a number of last-minute wins and a playoff victory.
After the Broncos signed free agent quarterback Peyton Manning, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets.
Tickets priced at $25, $50 and $100 can still be purchased at www.itickets.com/events/282684.html. They will not be available at the door.
12Stone is the host of the event and has no control over ticketing. For more information, visit www.iequip.org.
Funds raised by the event go directly to train EQUIP's international ministry leaders.
