NORCROSS -- A Norcross man has been charged with raping the 5-year-old daughter of his former girlfriend.
Ismael Ayala-Vasquez, 31, was arrested Tuesday and charged with rape, battery and failure to appear.
According to a Gwinnett County police report, the charges stemmed from 2010 events involving the 5-year-old girl living in his former home at Tucker's Gwinnett Station Apartments with her mother.
The girl, now nearly 7 years old, told police Ayala-Vasquez "put his thing into my thing" and hit her in the face.
An officer responding to claims following the incident in July of 2010 did not make an arrest "due to (the victim) recanting her statement," this week's police report said.
Gwinnett County Jail records show Ayala-Vasquez is being held without bond. A hold for immigration officials has also been placed.
