LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Sugar Hill man was killed in Tuesday's fatal car crash in Lawrenceville, officials said.
Gwinnett County police said Wednesday that 22-year-old Kenneth Hayden died from injuries suffered during the lunchtime wreck at the intersection of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road and Sugarloaf Parkway.
Investigators believe Hayden was stopped on Sugarloaf Parkway in his 1998 Chevrolet Camaro and waiting to turn left onto Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. It's believed he "turned into the path" of a northbound Jeep Cherokee as the light turned yellow, police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said.
The Cherokee, driven by 28-year-old Jonathan Bagwell of Loganville, struck the Camaro's passenger side. Hayden died at the scene, Ritter said.
Bagwell was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
Alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor, Ritter said, but speed and right of way were being investigated. It was unclear Wednesday if charges would be filed.
"At some point during this investigation if the investigators deem it necessary to make charges they will," Ritter said. "Nothing has been determined yet."
