LAWRENCEVILLE -- As National County Government Month continues this April, Gwinnett County will continue to offer a number of health-related activities, events and celebrations.
The theme to this year's county government month is "healthy counties, healthy families," and Gwinnett has already hosted a number of events. They will continue throughout this month, and include:
-- A health and wellness supply drive for local seniors and children. Supplies like toothpaste, toilet paper, hand soap, bandages and trash bags can be donated at the Gwinnett Justice and Administrator and the Water Resources Central Facility through April 30.
-- An Earth Day celebration at Coolray Field. The event, held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, will feature paper shredding, household battery and paint collection and kids activities.
The Environmental and Heritage Center will host its own Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 21. Events will include educational activities, nature hikes, crafts, movies and games.
-- Care-A-Van mammogram screenings from Gwinnett Medical Center. The mobile mammography unit will be at the Grayson branch of Gwinnett Public Libraries beginning at 8:45 a.m. on April 16.

-- Walk-A-Weigh fitness and nutrition classes. From April 19 through 24, the county's Cooperative Extension Service host information sessions about the classes, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classes will be held at the Centerville Community Center, 3025 Bethany Church Road in Snellville.
-- A health fair. Held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on April 27, the "Sing, Dance and Relax" health fair will include line dancing classes, beneficial health screenings and healthy cooking demonstrations. The fair is co-sponsored by Gwinnett Senior Services and will be held at the George Pierce Park Community Recreation Center.
