Maya Moore's penchant for winning isn't limited to this continent.
The Collins Hill grad, during her offseason from the WNBA, helped her Spanish League team, Ros Casares, to the title at the EuroLeague Championships, which concluded Sunday in Istanbul. Ros Casares won its first EuroLeague crown with a 65-52, title-game win over Spanish rival Rivas Ecopolis.
Moore had eight points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocked shots in the finals for a loaded team that also features stars Lauren Jackson, Sancho Lyttle and Ann Wauters. During the 10 EuroLeague games she played, Moore averaged 12.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 blocks.
The 6-foot forward is coming off an exceptional WNBA season that saw the 2011 first-round pick earn rookie of the year honors and win the championship with the Minnesota Lynx. Prior to going pro, Moore won two NCAA titles during her All-American career at Connecticut and three Class AAAAA state titles during her high school career at Collins Hill.
