LILBURN -- Lilburn's very own Relay for Life event is scheduled for later this month and has already raised about $5,000 for the American Cancer Society.
The city's 2012 Relay Rally will be held at 5 p.m. on April 27 at Lilburn City Park. Organized and co-sponsored by the Lilburn Women's Club, the event will feature most of the same events as Gwinnett County's Relay for Life, the largest in the world for 10 years straight: an opening ceremony, a cancer survivor's lap, a luminaria ceremony and live music.
Refreshments will be available for purchase.
As of Thursday, 10 teams and 69 participants were registered for the event. The event's website said $4,395 had been raised thus far.
