LAWRENCEVILLE -- An indictment released this week charges a Tucker man with fracturing the skull of a 1-year-old girl who was in his care last October.
A grand jury indicted Todd Klein on four counts of first-degree child cruelty Wednesday for injuries inflicted between October 23 and 28 last year. Along with a fractured skull, the child suffered a broken leg, bruising and torn tissue, the indictment states.
The 14-month-old victim, the daughter of Klein's girlfriend at the time, was under Klein's care when she was injured, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.
Smith said investigators aren't sure how the child's injuries were inflicted.
"That might be the kind of thing they never know in this case," he said.
Klein is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.
How the incident initially came to light was unclear. Smith said the case was referred to police by the Division of Children and Family Services.
The girl has made a full recovery, Smith said.
