BUFORD — Two fatalities have been confirmed in a Friday afternoon crash on Interstate 985 in Buford.
Gwinnett County police said the four-vehicle accident — which occurred at about 3:20 p.m. on I-985 South under Ga. Highway 20 — involved a box truck, a pickup truck, a passenger car and a minivan.
The box truck and passenger car collided, killing both passengers inside the car and causing it to strike the other vehicles. One person was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The identities of the deceased were not released Friday. They will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The interstate was blocked for most of the afternoon rush hour, and reopened around 6 p.m.
