Alleged Gwinnett serial robber indicted

LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Powder Springs man accused of at least four armed robberies in Gwinnett -- before a Good Samaritan followed him from the final crime scene -- was indicted this week.

Jamal Deleon Calloway was arrested on Jan. 8 after allegedly robbing a Chevron gas station on Hamilton Mill Road in Buford. As he left, a customer at the station actually followed him as he drove to the LongHorn Steakhouse at the Mall of Georgia, leading authorities there as well.

An indictment passed down from a Gwinnett grand jury Wednesday alleges Calloway was responsible for at least three more armed robberies in the county as well, beginning in October of last year.

Those crimes include hold-ups at a Little Caesar's pizza restaurant, a Springhill Suites hotel and, shockingly, the same Chevron gas station as his most recent alleged robbery.

All told, Calloway was indicted on seven counts of armed robbery, as well as individual charges of second-degree forgery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

good going private citizen. This says it all. Cops can't solve all the crimes. It takes people with guts to help them. That is why you need a carry permit, to safely go after these crooks.
