STONE MOUNTAIN -- Sally Evans, a former British native, has been an artist for many years creating pieces with water colors and acrylics in bright, vibrant colors and shapes. Today until May 19, she is displaying her first solo show at the ART Station with her exhibit, "It's All About Colour."

"To me, my paintings are all about color or shape, no matter if it's with water painting or acrylics," she said. "I mix things together and make strange things come to life."

Evans had heard about ART Station off and on for several years, but first met Jon Goldstein, who takes care of the theater and gallery programs at the center, at an art show in Brookhaven.

"He came by and said he liked the work," she said. "But I forgot all about it because people come by and say they're interested all the time and never get back to you. Then, last year before I went off to England, he called out of the blue."

That's when Evans was asked to put together enough art for a solo show at ART Station.

"Starting in July, I painted like a mad woman for the show," she said with a laugh.

Evans created 54 new pieces for the current exhibit and has 49 of them hanging throughout the art gallery. Since the exhibit's opening on March 30, she's sold two paintings.

The most important thing to Evans is color because it's what makes her happy. She hopes art enthusiasts leave her exhibit with the same joy after looking at her pieces.

"I liked them to make them feel happy because I'm not a depressive painter," she said. "You don't to be afraid of the color. Once winter is over, it's nice to get the bright colors back into your life."
