Chinatown Blu-ray (R)

Movie: 4 out of 4 stars

Disc: 4 out of 4 stars

Considered by many to be the best written film of all-time, "Chinatown" is a crime procedural that plays out like a noir thriller. Set in late '40s L.A., the main plot involves the mysterious drowning death of the city's water commissioner during a choking drought. The dead man's widow (Faye Dunaway) doesn't quite hire private eye J.J. Gittes (Jack Nicholson) to figure out what happened and along the way he unearths a trunk-load of dirty old family laundry. Even if you already have seen it, you'll need to check this edition out. The five featurettes alone are more than worth the (relatively low) price.
