DULUTH (AP) -- Firefighters in Gwinnett were battling two blazes believed to have been sparked by lightning.
Gwinnett County fire officials said a thunderstorm that moved through the county Tuesday night started the house fires in Duluth and Dacula.
Around 10 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire on Point River Drive in Duluth and found a two-story home engulfed in flames. Authorities said the main level of the home collapsed into the basement.
Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the occupants might have been out of town, but authorities were still trying to locate them and make sure they are safe.
Another blaze on Floral Ridge Drive in Dacula was reported within minutes of the Duluth fire. The occupants made it safely outside, but the home's attic and roof were damaged.
