Man found dead at Duluth apartment complex April 19, 2014

James L. (Jim) Petit, age 85, of Grayson, formerly of Doraville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 2, 2012. He is predeceased by his first wife, Mary Louise Gunter Petit; sons, Jamie Petit and Infant Boy Petit; his brothers, Charles and Art Petit. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Reba Seay Petit; son & daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheryl Petit of Dacula, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and Moe Khan of Snellville, GA; 3 grandchildren, Maria Ann Goodall, Melissa Rhinehardt, and Gunter Petit; 8 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Petit was owner/operator of a printing company, Label Craft Company, for 35 years. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Merchant Marines. He was a longtime, devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for 34 years and was a member of the Choir; served as Deacon Emeritus and was recipient of the Heritage Award. He was also involved with Gideon International. A service celebrating the life of Jim Petit will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Snellville with Rev. Larry Mize and Dr. Jeff Gongwer officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
