DULUTH -- Gwinnett police have charged a Tampa man with 29 counts of first-degree forgery for allegedly ripping off a Duluth dealership of a Porsche and BMW last year.
Larry Michel, 24, was booked Sunday at the Gwinnett County Jail on the forgery charges, in addition to counts of identity fraud and theft by deception. He's being held without bond.
In September, Michel and an accomplice used a forged cashier's check drawn from an Atlanta bank to purchase a Porsche Cayenne and BMW 745LI from a dealership on Satellite Boulevard in Duluth, according to arrest warrants.
The alleged shysters had obtained personal information from a former employee in Montgomery County, Texas, named Trevor Hill, whom Michel claimed to be at the dealership, according to a Gwinnett police report.
The information was pulled from an employee file, warrants state.
Michel was charged with forgery for each time he signed documents as Hill, his warrants state. He was extradited to Gwinnett this week by a prisoner transport service, records show.
Michel's alleged accomplice, Atlanta resident Carlos Garza, 31, has been jailed in Gwinnett since December.
