PREP ROUNDUP: Wyngaert Ks 12 in Archer's win at Region 8 tourney

SNELLVILLE -- Archer got a complete-game win from Madison Wyngaert as the Tigers defeated South Gwinnett 7-2 in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament.

Wyngaert allowed two runs on three hits and struck out 12 to improve to 9-1 in the circle. Kristen Hawkins went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Nani Cabrales was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer. Alesha Mann added a 3-for-3 night at the plate with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored.

Archer (20-8) moves on to play Grayson on Monday.


Grayson 3, Parkview 1

SNELLVILLE -- Breanna Ethridge threw a complete-game five-hitter to lead Grayson to a 3-1 victory over Parkview in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament. Niki Cook was 2-for-2 with a stolen base and Taylor Denton was 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Rams (16-14). Shelby Smith and Kayla Ross were both 1-for-3 for Grayson. Smith also had a stolen base and an RBI for the Rams, who move on to meet Archer.

Dacula 6, Shiloh 1

SNELLVILLE -- Keeli Waugh scattered eight hits and struck out four to lead Dacula to a 6-1 win over Shiloh in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament.

Waugh (9-8) allowed just one hit as Dacula (11-14-1) advanced into the next round to face Brookwood on Monday. Katie McMillian led the Falcons' offense with a 2-for-4 night, including two runs scored and two RBIs, and Taryn Anthony was 2-for-3 with one run scored.

Brookwood 12, Central Gwinnett 0

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood cruised to a 12-0 win over Central Gwinnett in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament. Megan Litumbe went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored.

Mandy Blackwell was 1-for-2 and also had a homer, three RBIs and a run scored for Brookwood (26-4). Susan Norris (2-for-3) also added a home run with three RBIs and three runs scored. Jenny Blackwell was 1-for-1 with three RBIs while Katie Gouveia, Daniella Ulloa and Ambree Muller each had a base hit. Rachel Hill picked up the win for the Broncos, allowing two hits and striking out three.

North Gwinnett 9, Mill Creek 1

SUWANEE -- Alaina Hall threw a complete-game two-hitter as North Gwinnett knocked off Mill Creek 9-1 in Region 7-AAAAA play.

Hall (5-4) struck out four and allowed just one earned run en route to the win. Hall also had a two-run double for the Bulldogs. Miranda Strother led the way at the plate for North by going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Lacey Najafi had an RBI double to seal the deal for North. Amanda Shimmin, Sydney O'Neill, Moriah Strother and Kendall McKinney all had base hits for the Bulldogs.

Duluth 9, Mountain View 0

DULUTH -- Jeanie Perrucci allowed just one hit and struck out five as Duluth blanked Mountain View 9-0 in five innings in Region 7-AAAAA action.

Perrucci also went 3-for-3 at the plate and Lauren Blanco was 1-for-2 with a three-run homer to cap off the win. Jessica Brown was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Kayla Brown, Casey Nellums and Cassie Kooker all went 1-for-2 for the Wildcats (18-10, 6-6).


Duluth wins on Senior Night

DULUTH -- Six seniors led the way on Senior Night for Duluth as the Wildcats knocked off St. Francis 25-13, 25-10, 25-13.

Seniors Stephanie Dixon (nine kills), Abby Powell (nine digs, seven kills, five aces), Diana Maglioni (six aces, five digs), Yale Choi (five digs), Parastoo Sakha (five aces) and Lacy Ricks (nine assists) came up big for Duluth as the Wildcats improved to 14-15 overall.

Dacula victorious on Senior Night

DACULA -- Dacula picked up two wins on Senior Night as the Falcons defeated Archer 25-16, 25-18 and Mountain View 28-26, 25-17.

Senior Mindi Blythe (15 kills, nine digs, three aces), Carson Barnes (19 assists, one ace) and Kimbo MacIntyre (24 digs, three aces) led the way for Dacula (21-22). Avery Shead, Apryl Daniel, Amanda Kent, Kendall Johnson and Amanda Preteroti also celebrated on Senior Night.

Collins Hill splits two

JOHNS CREEK -- Collins Hill went 1-1 as the Eagles defeated Shiloh 25-17, 25-8, but fell to Northview as the Titans pulled out a 21-25, 25-20, 25-20 win.

Courtney Oster had 16 digs, 14 kills and six aces, while Samantha Rivera added 14 kills and three blocks. Katherine Ahlswede had 30 assists and eight digs for the Eagles.

North wins twice; Norcross, Peachtree Ridge split

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett picked up two wins on Senior Night as the Bulldogs defeated Meadowcreek 25-4, 25-10 and Peachtree Ridge 25-14, 25-27, 25-17.

Norcross split a pair of matches as the Blue Devils defeated Meadowcreek 25-20, 25-10 and fell to Peachtree Ridge as the Lions took a 28-26, 25-11 decision.

North (39-8, 5-1) was led by Miller Howard's 23 kills, while Kristina Stinson had 17 kills. Senior Alex Panks added 41 assists and 11 aces for the Bulldogs. Anna Mullins, Meagan O'Neal, Cassie Shelton, Taylor Royster and Kelsea Knudsen also celebrated as seniors for North.

Norcross was led by Kolby Meeks with 17 kills and Kamilah Bakari had 13 kills and six blocks. Lauren Ranney added 31 assists for the Blue Devils (17-17).

Eleonora Porazzi had 22 kills, seven aces and one block for Peachtree Ridge. Lucy Riddle added 31 assists, six kills and three blocks and Becca Meyer had 13 digs and 10 kills for the Lions (28-14).

Brookwood loses twice

ROSWELL -- Brookwood faced a tough trip on the road and the Broncos dropped a pair of matches to the state's No. 6 team in AAAAA and No. 1 team in A/AA. Lassiter defeated Brookwood 25-23, 25-19 and then Blessed Trinity pulled out a 23-25, 25-23, 25-8 win over the Broncos. As a team, Brookwood had 41 kills, 19 blocks and 10 aces.

Mill Creek splits

KENNESAW -- Mill Creek went on the road and split a pair of matches. Mill Creek rallied past Lithia Springs 25-17, 23-25, 25-15, but lost to the state's No. 1 team in AAAAA as North Cobb took 23-25, 25-15, 25-15 over the Hawks (32-12, 6-0).

GAC sweeps past Athens Academy

NORCROSS -- Senior Dede Bohannon had 16 kills and 12 digs as Greater Atlanta Christian rolled to a 25-22, 25-17, 25-23 win over Athens Academy as the Spartans honored eight seniors on Senior Night. Fellow seniors Morgan McKnight (10 kills), Janaya Simmons (14 digs), Catherine Chason (22 digs) and Rachel Waldrop (36 assists, 10 digs) were keys to the GAC win as the Spartans improved to 34-4 overall. GAC also honored seniors Jess Baker, Emily Parker and Ali Cox.

Buford wins one, loses one

BUFORD -- Buford celebrated Senior Night as the Wolves split two matches, defeating North Hall 23-25, 25-9, 25-13 and falling to Lambert as the Longhorns took a 25-21, 25-12 win. Maggie Roper had 20 kills, 20 digs and six aces while senior Jessica Flaletta had 17 kills and 14 digs. Senior Bailey Hicks added 38 assists and Mikhayla Riegel had 23 digs. Erin Guiney was also honored as one of Buford's three seniors.

Providence gets two wins

DACULA -- Providence Christian Academy got two big wins as the Stars defeated Hebron Christian Academy 26-24, 19-25, 28-28 and Pinecrest Academy 25-18, 25-15. Maddie Jones had 23 kills and 19 digs, while Kaitlin Harper had 16 kills and 3.5 blocks. D'Anna Kester added 40 assists, five digs, five aces and three kills for Providence (24-16). Misty Parker chipped in 14 digs.

Congratulations to the graduating scholar athletes on the North Gwinnett High School Varsity Volleyball Team, who lead their team to match victories over Peachtree Ridge and Meadowcreek, on the Lady Bulldogs Senior Night! These hard-working student athletes, along with Coach Henry and her assistant coach Howard, have been a vital part of the North Gwinnett High School Volleyball Program, which is now one of the best in the State of Georgia. Anna Mullins, Alex Panks, Kelsea Knutsen, Meagan O'Neal, Taylor Royster, Cassie Shelton thank you and your parents for your contributions to the volleyball program and to the school during your years there.
