LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Riverdale woman who backed over a toddler in a Gwinnett County park has been charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide.
Gwinnett County Jail records show that Tekila Glass was arrested Thursday, almost two weeks after she was involved in the incident that took the life of 1-year-old Olivia Hellwig in Snellville's Lenora Park. According to information previously released by police, Glass was backing her Chrysler Pacifica into an empty parking spot on Sept. 18.
Her vehicle struck the toddler, who was being pushed in a stroller by her mother, police said. The Hellwigs were transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, where Olivia later died.
Police asked last week for additional witnesses to the incident to come forward. Officials could not be reached for comment Thursday evening.
According to jail records, Glass was charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide and improper backing. She was released on $8,650 bond.
