BUFORD -- Eagle Rock Distributing Co., a Georgia beer distribution business, joined with Operation One Voice, local law enforcement, fire departments and soldiers earlier this month at Lake Lanier Islands Resort during a Sept. 11 memorial event.
For the past several years, the distribution company has adopted Operation One Voice as its primary charity. The not-for-profit organization was founded after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, by Bill Stevens, a police officer and firefighter in Georgia.
The charity helps support families of fallen and wounded Special Operations Forces.
For the 9/11 weekend, OOV invited 30 families of wounded soldiers to Lake Lanier Islands for a day of golf, fishing and an outdoor performance by Travis Tritt.
Eagle Rock Distributing's government affairs anager, Laird Canby, said supporting Operation One Voice is a worthy cause.
It's "an honor and a pleasure," Canby said.
"They are a small, appreciative group that does fantastic work in the Special Ops world. They take care of these special families and needs that often fall through the cracks. We are humbled and honored to be involved and will continue to support this worthy nonprofit as long as there is a need."
