NORCROSS — Firefighters quickly extinguished a small warehouse fire Thursday night in the 5800 block of Oakbrook Parkway in Norcross, officials said.
The fire, reported at 10:27 p.m., occurred in the corner of a warehouse at a business called Team Terra, causing minor damage, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.
Fire crews controlled the blaze in about 15 minutes. The business was closed at the time and no injuries were reported.
Cop, neighbor credited with stifling blaze
SNELLVILLE — Fire officials credited a quick-acting neighbor and Gwinnett police officer with stifling a garage fire Friday morning in the 4800 block of Bottle Brush Court in Snellville.
The neighbor, a family member of the affected home’s occupant, called 911 at 7:39 a.m. The neighbor was met by a Gwinnett police officer responding to a burglar alarm at the home that authorities believe was triggered by the fire.
The officer and neighbor used a garden hose to keep the fire from spreading into the main-living areas of the house, until fire crews arrived and controlled the blaze at 8:04 a.m., Rutledge said.
The fire caused heavy damage to the garage and its contents. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported, Rutledge said.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, Rutledge said.
