SNELLVILLE -- A Thursday evening house fire in Snellville was caused by lightning, officials said.
Gwinnett County firefighters responded to a call from the 4300 block of Waters Way at about 5:45 p.m., the family living in the home reporting hearing "loud thunder" before smelling smoke, spokesman Lt. Eric Eberly said.
Crews found fire and smoke coming from the roof of the one-story home, made immediate entry and had the blaze under control within about 20 minutes, Eberly said. The blaze was contained to the attic and a bonus room, with "moderate" damage to the roof and attic area.
No injuries were reported. The family was not displaced due to the damage, Eberly said.
