NORCROSS -- A Norcross High School sophomore was arrested on felony charges this week after threatening a teacher and resisting arrest, authorities said.
The female student, Imani Drake, 17, is charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer, simple battery and disruption of a public school in the Tuesday morning incident.
Drake was reportedly being disruptive in class about 9 a.m. when her teacher asked to speak with her in the hallway. As the female teacher held the classroom door open, Drake made intentional contact with the teacher's shoulder and elbow, said Gwinnett Public Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana.
"While the teacher said she didn't sustain any injuries, she reported feeling threatened by the student's behavior" and called for assistance, Quintana said.
According to a Gwinnett County School Police report, Drake physically resisted arrest and disrupted the school by screaming profanities and kicking doors.
Drake remained at the Gwinnett County Jail on $8,300 bond Wednesday afternoon.
