Ronald Reagan, I-85 Study Extended Six Months

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Officials will take six more months to complete a long-awaited study on a toll-funded extension of Ronald Reagan Parkway, which would connect Snellville to Interstate 85.

A year ago, the Georgia Department of Transportation chipped in money, asking for the study to include a look at how to improve congestion on I-85.

Gwinnett Transportation Director Brian Allen said the Ronald Reagan portion of the work is complete but the I-85 part is not.

"The scope changed drastically with the inclusion of the I-85 project," he said. "We want to continue to work with GDOT."

The study began in the spring of 2009 and should be wrapped up in the coming months, he said. The change, approved Tuesday, does not include any extra funds.
