LAWRENCEVILLE -- Officials said Wednesday they had not yet identified the man killed in Tuesday's shootout with police.
The man's death came following an armed robbery at a Bank of America in Suwanee and a wild police chase in which he reportedly crashed into multiple cars before hijacking another vehicle in a Duluth Kroger parking lot. He was killed when he exited his vehicle near Steve Reynolds and Satellite boulevards and exchanged shots with Gwinnett County police officers.
Police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said Wednesday the deceased suspect had not been concretely identified. He said it was unclear if he had legitimate identification with him during the alleged crimes.
"They have an idea who he is," Ritter said, "but no confirmation."
