PREP ROUNDUP: Duluth shuts out Peachtree Ridge 2-0

SUWANEE — Duluth's Jeanie Perrucci set a personal season high in strikeouts with 13 on Tuesday as the Wildcats shut out Peachtree Ridge 2-0 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Casey Nellums led the offense for Duluth (16-9, 4-5), going 3-for-3 with a run. Erin Lipps added a hit and an RBI, while Toni Perrucci finished 1-for-3.

SOFTBALL

Brookwood 11, Grayson 2

LOGANVILLE — Brookwood's Brandi Jones both pitched and hit her way to a win Tuesday, leading the Broncos to an 11-2 defeat of Grayson in Region 8-AAAAA.

Jones went 3-for-5 at the plate with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. On the mound, she allowed one earned run in seven innings with seven strikeouts.

Megan Litumbe added a hit, run and three RBIs for the Broncos (21-1, 5-0), while Jenny Blackwell finished 2-for-4 with a double and three runs. Others helping in the attack were Daniella Ulloa (2-for-3, RBI), Taiylor Rinehart (2-for-2, triple, run), Mandy Blackwell (2-for-4, double, run) and Rachel Hill (1-for-1).

Dacula 15, Central 0

DACULA — Keeli Waugh had six strikeouts in three innings Tuesday with no hits as Dacula coasted to a 15-0 win over Central Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAA.

Dacula (8-10, 2-4) had several stars of offense, including Taryn Anthony (2-for-3, RBI), Brittany Taylor (2-for-3, two RBIs), Madison Moseley (3-for-3, RBI), Katy Daniels (2-for-2), Kristan Lizardi (2-for-3, RBI), Katie McMillian (hit, two RBIs) and Shania Norman (triple, RBI).

Archer 9, South 6

LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer stayed unbeaten in Region 8-AAAAA at 6-0 on Tuesday with a 9-6 win over South Gwinnett.

Jenna Graham sparked the offense for Archer (16-6 overall) with a triple and two RBIs, while Alesha Mann went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Taylor Albritton also had two hits, an RBI and a run, while Nani Cabrales pitched the final three innings for the win, allowing one hit with four strikeouts.

White Co. 16, Lanier 1

SUGAR HILL — Lanier fell to 8-15 overall and 5-5 in Region 8-AAA as the Longhorns lost 16-1 to White County in four innings Tuesday night.

Lauren Pettit provided Lanier's run with an RBI double.

GAC 4, Kennesaw Mountain 3

NORCROSS — Grace DeBour scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Greater Atlanta Christian a 4-3 win over Kennesaw Mountain in a non-region game Tuesday.

Krista Gustafson propelled the offense for GAC (19-3) with a two-run homer, while Natalie deLatour picked up the win on the mound.

Buford 8, Decatur 0

BUFORD — Buford starter Bria Bush pitched five innings of no-hit ball Tuesday as the Wolves blanked Decatur 8-0 in five innings in Region 6-AA. Bush finished with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Madyson Wynegar had just one hit but made the most of it as she tripled in two runs and scored another. Kodi Ricketson had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored, while Bailey Burnette doubled in a run. Aly Hicks also chipped in with a hit, an RBI and a run.

The win improved Buford to 17-7 overall and 2-1 in the region.

Wesleyan 12, Fellowship 0

NORCROSS — Dacia Jones of Wesleyan went 2-for-3 with two runs and five RBIs on Tuesday to lead the Wolves 12-0 over Fellowship Christian in four innings. Jones also earned the win on the mound with one hit in two innings of work.

Katie Frerking also had two RBIs and two runs on two hits, while Holli Wilkins (hit, two RBIs) and Caitlin Crabill (double, RBI) each helped offensively. Amanda DeLaPerriere pitched two innings of no-hit relief. Wesleyan improved to 10-7 overall and 4-1 in Region 5-A.

VOLLEYBALL

Mill Creek downs Duluth and Collins Hill

SUWANEE — Kaitlyn Lattimer had 39 assists and four aces on Tuesday in helping Mill Creek defeat Duluth 25-8, 25-13 and Collins Hill 25-22, 25-15.

Other standouts for the Hawks (24-10, 4-0) were Kim Brody with 23 kills and seven digs, Ashley Isaac with eight digs and seven kills, Emily Wylie with six kills, Emily Rose with four kills, Jordan Rooks with 17 digs and Audrey Hoffman with three blocks.

Collins Hill capped off its senior night with a win over Duluth, sweeping the Wildcats 25-5, 25-8. Leading the way for the Eagles (15-11) were seniors Caitlin Conner with nine kills, Kathryn Ahlswede with 25 assists, Sarah Stone with 12 digs and eight aces and Carsen Popelka with nine digs.

Peachtree Ridge defeats Norcross

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge logged a win in Area 7-AAAAA action Tuesday with a 25-18, 27-25, 25-22 defeat of Norcross. Lucy Riddle led the Lions (23-11) with 12 digs, 11 assists, eight kills and five aces, while Eleonora Porazzi finished with 10 kills, three aces and two digs. Becca Meyer added seven digs and seven kills, while Joy Davis tallied 10 digs.

Grayson splits, Parkview sweeps

LILBURN — Grayson's record moved to 8-11 on Tuesday with a win and a loss, taking down Archer 25-21, 25-22 while falling to Parkview 25-18, 25-21.

Kailyn Fuller led the attack in the win against Archer with four kills, while Alex Daniel tallied four assists and Erica Brown three kills in the Parkview match.

Parkview had a perfect night, finishing it off with a 25-21, 25-17 win over Archer. Leaders for the Panthers (9-20) were Daron Blankenship with 36 digs, Victoria Petrassi with 14 assists, Diamond Waldon with five blocks and three kills, Rachel White with six kills and six digs, Courtney Duck with six kills and Sarah Curlee with 10 digs.

Dacula defeats Central, falls to Brookwood

SNELLVILLE — Dacula started its night with a 25-22, 25-20 loss to host Brookwood on Tuesday night but rebounded to post a 25-13, 25-7 win over Central Gwinnett in Area 8-AAAAA.

Carson Barnes had 18 assists and Anna Machovec 13 kills as Dacula's record moved to 12-13.

Brookwood finished with a 2-0 night as the Broncos took down Central Gwinnett in two games 25-6, 25-3. The Broncos (27-7, 6-0) were led by seniors Erin Shelton, Bethany Easom, Katie Kraft, Sam Gratton and Colleen Thompson.

Wesleyan gets two wins

NORCROSS — Callie Bivings delivered 35 assists with four aces Tuesday in helping Wesleyan to a pair of wins as the Wolves defeated Pinecrest Academy 25-19, 25-14 and Galloway 25-16, 25-14.

Leading the Wolves (21-9, 6-0)in kills was Alana Broe with 11, while Anna Davis added nine and Nikki McDonald finished with five. Ansley Maughon also helped with 15 digs and five assists.

Hebron sweeps Mountain View and Berkmar

LAWRENCEVILLE — Despite being in the state's smallest classification, Hebron knocked off two Class AAAAA opponents Tuesday, sweeping Mountain View 25-20, 25-15 and Berkmar 25-9, 25-14.

Leaders for Hebron (19-12) were Maddi Roof with 13 kills, Eden Murray with 11 kills and Savannah Blalock with 26 assists.

Buford slips past Providence

BUFORD — Buford topped Providence in two tight games on Tuesday, defeating the Stars 26-24, 25-17.

Standout players for Buford (11-8) were Mikhayla Riegel with 12 digs, Bailey Hicks with 18 assists and six digs and Maggie Roper with 10 kills and eight digs. Erin Guiney and Jessica Falletta also each helped with with five kills and three digs.
