LILBURN -- Parkview running back Chris Carson wanted to celebrate his 17th birthday on Friday with a win.

The junior got a little more than that.

Carson rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns to lead Parkview to a 30-13 victory over Shiloh.

"I wished for a win and I'm happy we got it," Carson said with a big smile after the game.

Shiloh (1-3, 1-1 Region 8-AAAAA) had a surprising win over South Gwinnett last week, but couldn't pull the shocker two weeks in a row as it lost to Parkview for the 20th straight year.

"I'm proud of the kids," Parkview head coach Cecil Flowe said. "It was a big win for them."

After starting the season with losses to top-10 teams, Parkview (0-2, 1-0) got its first victory behind a strong running game. Patrick Flowe added 41 yards rushing and a TD as the Panthers had 228 yards on the ground.

"We worked hard on our blocking all week," Carson said. "Coach told us if we wanted to get better then we have to step it up."

Parkview took its opening drive 66 yards to the Generals' 2. Patrick Flowe fumbled and Shiloh's Stephen Weatherly recovered and brought the ball out to the 23.

Quarterback Ellis Orlandrick connected with Donald Clark on third down for a 33-yard gain and again for a 42-yard pass to the Parkview 1.

Fred Mooring scored on a one-yard run to start the second quarter to give Shiloh a 7-0 lead.

Clark had four catches for 105 yards and an interception on defense.

Shiloh's defense made a big stop on fourth down when Demetrius Hall batted down a pass. But the Parkview offense needed only 20 seconds to score the next time it stepped on the field.

Carson went 42 yards on a screen pass and Martin Rhymer made a touchdown saving tackle at the four. On the next play, Patrick Flowe redeemed his fumble in the first quarter by going untouched into the end zone.

A bad snap on the PAT resulted in Parkview's Jack Esmonde connecting with Larry Veal for a two-point conversion to make it 8-7 before the half.

"I knew I needed to pay my team back," Flowe said.

Parkview's Bryce Lewis had a 41-yard kickoff return to start the second half. Carson had a 20-yard run to the five and then scored on the next play. Carson added the two-point conversion to give the Panthers a 16-7 lead with 9:18 left in the third quarter.

Jordan Reid had a 33-yard catch down the right sideline to set up Carson's second TD. Carson scored on a two-yard run to make it 23-7. Reid finished with three catches for 53 yards.

Shiloh's Sean Halsey recovered a muffed punt by Parkview at the 15. The Generals used a fourth-down touchdown catch by Weatherly from DeVante James to get back in the game 23-13 after the PAT failed. James was 9 of 18 for 74 yards.

Shiloh began to put together another solid drive to midfield when Flowe intercepted James at the 32 and returned it to the Shiloh 30.

"Oh man, our coaches put us in position to get that," Flowe said. "I recognized it and got it."

Carson scored his third TD two plays later on a 29-yard run by hurdling two defenders on the way to the end zone.

"He made a great adjustment on that run," Cecil Flowe said.
