Gwinnett Daily Post
As a longtime patron of the Gwinnett library system, I applaud Board Chairman Phillip Saxton's innovative plan to raise money for the system by seeking donations, advertising revenue and an endowment. I find board member Dick Goodman's attempt at ridiculing this plan ("Board member blasts library donation plan," Sept. 14, 1A) to be narrow-minded and offensive.
It is especially offensive that Mr. Goodman offers no alternative. Even if he had, he apparently does not understand that there can most certainly be more than one way to raise money. If Mr. Goodman ever offers a plan, guess what? We can try them both. In the meantime, raising $4 million, by whatever means, sounds like a business plan to me. -- Charles W.
