SUWANEE -- The deadline for registration in the newest class of Suwanee's popular citizens police academy is rapidly approaching.
Registration applications are due by Friday for the session to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
The Suwanee Police Department will host the eight-week, hands-on program that allows participants the chance to get to know many of the city's officers personally and provides better insight into the responsibilities and risks of being a police officer. Topics will include crime scene processing, traffic stops, building searches, crime prevention and narcotics identification.
Starting Oct. 4, class sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the police department located at 373 Buford Highway.
Applications are available at www.suwanee.com. For more information, email Ofc. Elias Casanas at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 770-904-7612.
