LAWRENCEVILLE -- Coolray Field will soon play host to the second annual Gwinnett County Public Safety Fall Festival, an event highlighted by a best-of-three series of softball games pitting local police officers and firefighters against each other.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 1, and will include a blood drive, car show and plenty of up-close demonstrations of equipment like helicopters, boats, fire engines and ambulances. Other governmental and nonprofit agencies are also scheduled to be present to provide safety information, tips and demonstrations.
Pet adoptions from the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter will also be available.
"The Public Safety Fall Festival really celebrates the partnership between GCPD, GCFES and the community as a whole, and we encourage all Gwinnett county residents to join us for the fun, free event," Gwinnett police Officer Jeffery Richter said.
Added fire department spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge: "Both agencies are coming together to promote safety and to encourage partnerships with members of the community and public safety professionals."
