AUBURN -- That popular celebration of all things autumn in downtown Auburn turns 20 this year and is expected to draw contributions from across the Southeast.
This year's Auburnfest, slated for Oct. 15 and 16, will feature arts and craft exhibitors from all parts of the Southeast region, leaders say. The festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Last year, the burgeoning festival added attractions that included a red chili cook-off and children's costume parade.
Past attractions have included unique events like "Cow Patty Bingo," where competitors place bets on marked spots where a live bovine might place his "patty." Lest we forget the Hula Hoop contest, a pageant and talent show for youngsters, and myriad music performers, including a street dance that capped the fest two years ago.
Leaders ask vendors, exhibitors and entertainers to reserve their slot at the festival soon.
To do so, contact Parks and Leisure Services Director Gary Schussler by calling 770-674-5485 or via email at gschussler@cityofauburn-ga.org.
