Prep Roundup: North Gwinnett Goes 3-0 In Collins Hill Classic

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett went a pefect 3-0 in the opening round of the Collins Hill Classic as the Bulldogs defeated Norcross 25-12, 25-17, Tucker 25-10, 25-5 and Parkview 25-12, 25-18.

Kristina Stinson had 13 kills and 11 aces and Miller Howard had 22 kills for the Bulldogs (30-6). Matia Hughes added 12 digs and eight aces for North.

Meanwhile, Norcross picked up a 27-25, 24-26, 15-12 win over Parkview. Lindsay Holmes had 24 digs and Lauren Ranney had 43 assists for the Blue Devils. Sydney Marshall added 17 kills and 10 blocks for Norcross. Courtney Duck had nine kills and two blocks, while Daron Blankenship had 22 digs and two aces for Parkview. Rachel White added eight kills for the Panthers.


Dacula takes two

SUWANEE -- Dacula earned a pair of wins in the Collins Hill Classic as the Falcons defeated Tucker 25-10, 25-16 and Norcross 25-20, 25-18. Dacula (14-15) was led by Kimberly MacIntyre's 27 digs and 14 kills, while Anna Machovec had 15 digs and 12 kills. Casey Wilson added 19 digs and Avery Shead had 20 assists and nine aces for the Falcons.

Peachtree Ridge wins pair

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge rolled to a pair of wins in the Collins Hill Classic as the Lions knocked off South Gwinnett 25-22, 25-14 and Chamblee 25-23, 25-6. As a team, Peachtree Ridge (20-9) had 36 aces -- including 13 by Lauren Greene, who also had four kills, a block and an assist. Eleonora Porazzi added 11 kills, nine aces and a block, while Lucy Riddle had seven kills, six aces, six assists and two blocks for the Lions.

Collins Hill goes 2-1, Hebron wins two

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill defeated Mountain View 25-12, 25-15 and North Hall 25-18, 25-22, but fell to Hebron Christian Academy as the Lions took a 25-23, 10-25, 15-9 win over the Eagles in the Collins Hill Classic. Courtney Oster had 19 kills, 16 aces, 11 digs and three blocks for Collins Hill. Sarah Stone added 26 digs and four aces, while Carsen Popelka had 18 digs and nine aces for the Eagles. Katherine Ahlswede had 64 assists and nine digs and Samantha Rivera chipped in 16 kills and seven blocks.

Hebron finished 2-0 for the day with a 25-14, 25-22 win over Mountain View. Eden Murray led the way with 26 kills and 15 assists and Maddi Roof had 13 kills and Savannah Blalock added 35 assists for Hebron.

Duluth gets two wins

SUWANEE --Duluth got a pair of wins in the Collins Hill Classic as the Wildcats defeated Central Gwinnett 25-15, 25-7 and North Forsyth 25-22, 25-18. Duluth improved to 13-7 overall.

Wesleyan wins two

SUWANEE -- Wesleyan picked up two wins in the Collins Hill Classic as the Wolves defeated Chamblee 25-10, 26-24 and Berkmar 25-17, 25-7. Lauren Frerking had seven kills, Ashley Gentry six assists, Ansley Maughon six aces and Natalie Connor had five aces and nine digs to lead the way for Wesleyan (17-8).


Brookwood 8, Parkview 0

SNELLVILLE -- Mandy Blackwell hit a three-run homer in the first inning and drove in six runs for the game as Brookwood blanked Parkview 8-0 in a non-region game.

Blackwell went 2-for-3 at the plate and also added a double for the Broncos (20-1, 5-0). Susan Norris was 3-for-4 with three runs scored while Katie Gouveia, Emily Brantley, Daniella Ulloa, Megan Litumbe, Jenny Blackwell, Taiylor Rinehart all had a hit for Brookwood. Brandi Jones and Rachel Hill cominbed for the shutout in the circle as each pitcher went three innings, while allowing two hits and striking out three.

Mill Creek 16, Duluth 2

DULUTH -- Morgan Bell went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and five RBIs as Mill Creek defeated Duluth 16-2 in four innings.

Tori Mitchell improved to 10-1, while allowing two runs and five hits. Mitchell also struck out two and walked just one in the circle. Taylor Rogers was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, while Nikki Sagermann went 2-for-3 with a single, double and three RBIs. Anyssa Robles added a 2-for-2 day at the plate -- including a single, double and three RBIs. Liz Stringer was 3-for-3 with a double for Mill Creek as the Hawks improved to 17-3-1 overall and 8-1 in Region 7-AAAAA.

North 15, Norcross 0

NORCROSS -- Alaina Hall and Emily Hall faced the minimum in the circle and the offense pounded out 20 hits as North Gwinnett blanked Norcross 15-0 in five innings.

Hall, who also went 2-for-2 at the plate, and Wood didn't allow a hit as the Bulldogs improved to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in Region 7-AAAAA. Katie Black, Kendall McKinney and Kelsey Summers each had a double and scored a run for North. Miranda Strother also had a triple for the Bulldogs.

Stephens Co. 4, Lanier 3

TOCCOA -- Lanier dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Stephens County in Region 8-AAA action. Lauren Pettit went 2-for-4, Hannah Coursey 2-for-3 (one triple), Shelby Threlkeld 1-for-3 and Meghan Kellett 1-for-2 (two RBIs) as the Longhorns evened their region record at 4-4.

Buford wins two

BUFORD -- Buford swept a pair of games, including a 15-0 shutout of Clarkston in Region 6-AA action. The Wolves also picked up an 8-3 win over Woodstock in non-region action. Danielle Dlugasch picked up her first win of the season in the circle for Buford in the win over Clarkston. Rebekah Rude and Bria Bush combined to pick up the win over Woodstock as Rude went 4 innings and allowed three unearned runs to get the win. Bush came on for the final 2 innings of shutout relief to get the save. Kodi Ricketson had a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Lexi Overstreet had a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Tessa Daniels added a hit, RBI and run scored and Madison Wynegar was 1-for-4 for Buford.

Wesleyan 5, Holy Innocents' 2

ATLANTA -- Amanda deLaPierre pitched a complete-game from the circle while striking out three to lead Wesleyan to a 5-2 win over Holy Innocents' in Region 5-A action. Landyn Duley went 2-for-4 with a triple and one run scored for the Wolves (8-6, 4-1). Courtney O'Leary was 2-for-3 with a run and Katie Frerking was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Wesleyan.
