LAWRENCEVILLE -- For the 57th year, the Gwinnett County Fair has opened its gates at the fairgrounds for another week and a half of rides, pageants, games and food, which runs through Sept. 25.
When you visit the family friendly event, watch a live performance of the "Paul Bunyan Lumber Jack Show" and giggle with Ozseeker the Clown.
There will be 52 rides and attractions for the crowd to enjoy -- all of which were inspected by the state of Georgia, even though it's not required.
"That's why we've had a good record of no accidents because we do get inspected before the fair opens," Dale Thurman, Gwinnett County Fair manager said. "We want to be as safe as possible."
Rides aren't the only things available for fun -- there are games galore with prizes and live music from several acts, including The Bellamy Brothers, Gene Watson and The Skillit Lickers featuring Suwanee's Everett Family Band.
The talk of the fair is certainly the Miss Gwinnett Pageants. Young babies, girls and women (ranging from newborns to 24 years old) will be crowned beauty queens today through Sunday.
If glitz and glamour aren't your thing, there are numerous livestock shows running the entire fair. There will be shows with everything from Angus to swine ready to be pinned blue ribbon winners.
