• Location: Asian Fusion is located between Taco Mac and IHOP on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road near Jersey Mike's.

• Hours: 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays

• Atmosphere: Casual dining, families welcome. Take-out also available. No-frills decor, but portions are plentiful and dishes are reasonably priced.


• Spicy basil chicken — White chicken, stir fried with fresh vegetables and basil. A medium-spicy dish, but can be requested “Thai” hot ($5.25)

• Sesame chicken — Battered and deep-fried crispy chicken, slightly sweet ($5.25)

• Pad Thai noodles (House special) — White meat chicken, beef and shrimp served with crispy bean sprouts and lime on the side ($8.95)

• Hibachi steak and shrimp — Steak and shrimp cooked on a griddle, served on a bed of grilled vegetables ($8.95)

The fare served at Asian Fusion is just that -- a fusion of Chinese, Thai and Hibachi cuisines. Chef Yaki Cheung has more than 10 years' experience cooking in several Asian restaurants in all of these styles. His light hand with fats and generous use of pungent spices makes for a truly authentic Asian dining experience, no matter which cuisine is your favorite. Wife Kristy grew up in the restaurant business, the child of second generation Chinese immigrants who have owned restaurants in New York and Florida.

Families, including children, are welcome at Asian Fusion. The setup of the restaurant is practical and no-fuss, so parents don't have to worry about tipping over candles or staining white tablecloths. But don't let the diner-style surroundings fool you. Yaki is an accomplished fusion chef.

Patrons can order their meals with a choice of noodles (Pad Thai, Lo Mein, Udon or Mei Fun), and adventurous connoisseurs can ask to turn up the heat to "Thai" on many dishes typically served more mild.

• Things you might not know: Kristy and Yaki got married the same year they opened the restaurant. Also, their homemade Yum Yum sauce is so popular, it is served to customers in a large mustard bottle and can be used as heavily or as sparingly as desired.
