Prep Roundup: Deep Goes Deep To Win It For Wolves

BUFORD -- With the bases loaded, freshman Jordan Deep drove the first pitch she saw to the wall to score a pair of runs and gave Buford a 6-5 extra-inning win over Grayson on Wednesday.

The Wolves (14-7) watched a 4-0, first-inning lead slip slowly away before Deep got her chance to be a walk-off hero in the eighth.

Deep, still just 14 years old, finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk.

Madyson Wynegar was 3-for-4, while Rebekah Rude (two runs, stolen base) and Lanier Paul were both 2-for-4.

Buford used three pitchers to beat the Rams. Bria Bush started the game and went four strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three and walking one.

Rachel Stopper came in for 1 innings before freshman Tessa Daniels took over. Daniels (8-2) earned the win because Grayson tied it in the seventh to force extras. She gave up four hits and one unearned run in 1 innings. Daniels also struck out two and walked none.

The Wolves play two games today at home -- Clarkston at 5 p.m. and Woodstock at 6:30 p.m.
