LAWRENCEVILLE -- Pulitzer Prize winning author Siddharta Mukherjee will be in Gwinnett next month at the Gwinnett County Public Library's Gwinnett Reads event.
Mukherjee's "The Emperor of All Maladies" was chosen for the reading program, intended to get members of the community to enjoy a book together.
The selection, which chronicles the history of cancer, including its origin and the advancement of diagnoses, was named one of the 10 best books of 2010 by the New York Times.
"Mukherjee beautifully weaves compassion for patients and their families along with the science and research of this complex and complicated sickness," a press release said about the selection.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at the ballroom at the Gwinnett Center. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
