Hebron Lions (non-region)
Coach: Sal Battaglia
Record: 0-3
Last week: Lost to Athens Christian 34-8
George Walton Bulldogs (8-A)
Coach: Don Williams
Record: 1-1
Last week: Lost to Warren Co. 12-3
In need of confidence and experience, the youthful Lions' task doesn't get any easier with a road trip to George Walton Academy looming.
"We're trying to get 14- and 15-year-olds to react mentally and overcome adversity," Battaglia said. "That's what you get with a young team. We've just got to grow up fast."
The Lions have a big task ahead of them against a Bulldogs team coming off having their nine-game home winning streak snapped last week.
"They're big," Battaglia said of the Bulldogs. "I don't think they're quite as fast as Prince Avenue was, but they may be a little bit bigger. They're probably the strongest team we've played all year."
The Bulldogs also possess quite a bit of skill, especially on the defensive side, where a secondary led by Casey Shubert, Hunter Rice and Matt Corder should provide a big challenge to a Hebron passing game that has shown some promise with Lew Stephens alternating between quarterback and slot receiver and Tyler Matthews also providing a steady presence at receiver.
Last meeting: GWA won 50-17 last year
