Prep Roundup: Mountain View Tops North Gwinnett 2-1

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View snapped its four-game losing skid by upending North Gwinnett 2-1 on Tuesday night in Region 7-AAAAA.

Hannah Seagriff delivered a complete game for Mountain View in recording the win, giving up one unearned run with two strikeouts. Meghan Tonnesen finished with a double, sacrifice bunt and an RBI to lead the offense for the Bears (7-14, 2-5), while Kara Adams drove in the other run. Taylor Miller also had a hit and a stolen base, while Kaylee Hennelly finished 2-for-3 with a double.

Emily Wood pitched well for North, allowing one earned run on three hits in seven innings with eight strikeouts. Kendall McKinney led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Alaina Hall added a hit and a run. Tori Prince, Miranda Strother and Hannah Harrison also each had a hit for North (12-7, 5-3).


Peachtree Ridge 9, Norcross 0

NORCROSS -- Quinn Hill delivered five innings of two-hit ball Tuesday with seven strikeouts to lead Peachtree Ridge 9-0 over Norcross in five innings in Region 7-AAAAA action. Hill upped her record to 4-1 while the Lions improved to 14-7 overall and 6-3 in the region.

Kayla Jones went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the offense, while Maiah Johnson finished with two hits. Ashley Sawdey also had a hit and an RBI, while Kiara Starks drove in a run.

Shiloh 10, Dacula 4

SNELLVILLE -- Aaliyah Woods belted a three-run homer and Lizzy Humes added two hits, two runs and two RBIs on Tuesday to lead Shiloh 10-4 over Dacula in Region 8-AAAAA.

Lauren Eggert added to the offense for Shiloh (12-5) with a hit, two runs and two RBIs, while Amber Johnson finished with two hits and three runs. Jenna Carr picked up the win, hurling seven innings with four unearned runs.

Archer 11, Central 1

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer's Kanani Cabrales went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs Tuesday as the Tigers ran past Central Gwinnett 11-1 in five innings.

Jenna Graham had two hits and two RBIs with a run, while Nicole Roberts finished 2-for-4 with two runs. Madison Wyngaert (2-0) pitched all five innings, striking out eight with three hits. Archer improved to 15-5 overall and 5-0 in the region.

Grayson 2, South 0

SNELLVILLE -- Grayson collected 10 hits Tuesday night as the Rams edged South Gwinnett 2-0 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Jen Spangler went the distance in recording the win, striking out 10 with three walks in the shutout. Breanna Ethridge paced things offensively for Grayson (14-8, 4-2), going 3-for-4 with a run, while Shelby Smith finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Jessica Stokes allowed two runs in three innings for South, while Christina Skipper followed with four scoreless innings of relief. South managed just two hits on the night, getting one each from Andrea Rosario and Jessika Jentzsch.


GAC ends Area 4-A/AA schedule unbeaten

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian concluded its regular-season Area 4-A/AA schedule unbeaten, defeating Buford 25-9, 25-8 on Tuesday night. GAC (20-3, 6-0) also topped Riverwood 25-22, 26-24 in a non-area match.

Dede Bohannon logged 14 kills and 12 digs for GAC, while Morgan McKnight tallied 12 kills. Catherine Chason added 15 digs, while Rachel Waldrop totaled 30 assists and 10 digs with Jess Baker blocking five shots.

Buford's attempt at a split came up short as the Wolves fell to Riverwood in three games 25-19, 22-25, 25-10. Leaders for Buford on the night were Maggie Roper with 13 kills and eight digs, Jessica Falletta with 16 digs and six kills and Bailey Hicks with 19 assists and four aces.

Mill Creek sweeps two matches

SUWANEE -- Kaitlyn Lattimer delivered 38 assists and Ashley Isaac had 12 kills Tuesday, helping Mill Creek to a pair of wins over Meadowcreek 25-8, 25-9 and Peachtree Ridge 25-10, 25-23.

Other standouts for Mill Creek (21-9, 2-0) were Kim Brody with seven kills and seven digs, Emily Wylie with five kills, Emily Rose with nine kills and Trinity Garmon with five kills and four aces.

Peachtree Ridge also faced Duluth and came away with a 25-11, 25-16 win. Top players for Peachtree Ridge (18-9) were Lucy Riddle with 16 assists and six kills, Eleonara Porazzi with 10 kills and four aces and Tae Thomas with four kills and four blocks.

Mountain View tops Archer and Central

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View improved to 12-10 overall and 2-2 in Area 8-AAAAA on Tuesday with wins over Archer and Central Gwinnett. The Bears opened with a 25-13, 25-15 sweep of Archer and capped of its night with a 25-7, 25-13 sweep of Central.

Parkview edges Dacula

DACULA -- Parkview needed three games but came away winners in its match with Dacula, downing the Falcons 14-25, 25-17, 25-19.

Leaders for the Panthers were Ally Peatroff (14 kills), Courtney Duck (seven kills), Erin Gilleland (21 assists, two aces), Riley Weyher (11 kills, four aces) and Daron Blankenship (22 digs). Parkview ended the night 1-1 as Hebron topped the Panthers 25-21, 25-22.

Dacula also fell to Hebron, losing in two games 25-20, 25-19. Dacula, which fell to 2-1 in Area 8-AAAAA with its loss to Parkview, was led by Avery Shead's 25 assists and Carson Barnes' 19 assists. Kimberly MacIntyre also had 19 kills, while Anna Machovec tallied 36 digs.

Hebron, which improved to 15-12 with the sweep, was led by 23 kills, four aces and four blocks from Eden Murray and 15 kills and three blocks from Mollie Russell.

Brookwood sweeps Berkmar and Grayson

LILBURN -- Brookwood improved to 25-7 overall and 4-0 in Area 8-AAAAA on Tuesday with wins over Berkmar 25-13, 25-12 and Grayson 25-16, 25-12.

Katie Kraft served six aces for the Broncos, while Farrah Butler led the team in kills with eight. Colleen Thompson followed with six kills, while setter Bethany Easom paced to attack.

Collins Hill splits; North Gwinnett sweeps

SUWANEE -- After getting swept by North Gwinnett 25-11, 25-5, Collins Hill bounced back to take Norcross in three games 25-21, 16-25, 25-23.

Samantha Rivera led the Eagles with 10 kills and three blocks. Caitlyn Connor also had 10 kills, while Ariana McDaniels finished with 15 digs.

North concluded its perfect night with a sweep of Norcross 25-16, 25-19. Miller Howard led North (27-6, 2-0) with 16 kills, while Matia Hughes added 14 digs. Alex Panks also helped with 32 assists and 11 digs.

Norcross, which saw its record even at 7-7, was led by 14 kills from Nicki White and 10 kills and 10 digs from Katie Janowiak.

Wesleyan logs two wins

JOHN'S CREEK -- Wesleyan swept a pair of matches Tuesday, taking down Mount Pisgah 25-7, 25-12 and Fellowship Christian 25-13, 25-18.

Katie Van Laeke led the Wolves (14-7) in kills with 13, while Anna Davis and Alana Broe each delivered 12. Leading the team in digs was Jennifer Miller with 28, while Natalie Connor had 11 digs to go along with three aces. Ashley Gentry also helped with nine assists and six aces.


Buford boys, girls take second in Habersham invite

MOUNT AIRY -- Buford had a strong showing with its boys and girls program on Tuesday as each placed second in the Mountain Eagle Invitational.

Lane Crawford took fourth at 24:09 and Bailey Roberts fifth at 24:13 in leading the girls to 62 points, finishing behind White County's 33 points.

On the boys side, Dylan Price was second overall at 18:34 and Michael Becker seventh at 19:04 as Buford finished with 74 points, just behind Jefferson at 66 points.
