BUFORD -- With the bases loaded, freshman Jordan Deep drove the first pitch she saw to the wall to score a pair of runs and gave Buford a 6-5 extra-inning win over Grayson on Wednesday.
The Wolves (14-7) watched a 4-0, first-inning lead slip slowly away before Deep got her chance to be a walk-off hero in the eighth.
Deep, still just 14 years old, finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk.
Madyson Wynegar was 3-for-4, while Rebekah Rude (two runs, stolen base) and Lanier Paul were both 2-for-4.
Buford used three pitchers to beat the Rams. Bria Bush started the game and went four strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three and walking one.
Rachel Stopper came in for 1 innings before freshman Tessa Daniels took over. Daniels (8-2) earned the win because Grayson tied it in the seventh to force extras. She gave up four hits and one unearned run in 1 innings. Daniels also struck out two and walked none.
The Wolves play two games today at home -- Clarkston at 5 p.m. and Woodstock at 6:30 p.m.
GAC 15, Clarkston 0
NORCROSS -- Sydney Smartt threw a perfect game over three innings, which was all Greater Atlanta Christian needed to beat Clarkston 15-0 in a make-up game Wednesday.
Sierra Lawrence led the Spartans' hit parade with two home runs (both right- and left-handed). Lawrence was 3-for-3 with six RBIs and three runs scored.
Meghan Mitchell was 2-for-2 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs. Jill Danner was 1-for-1 with two runs and an RBI. Caroline Oglesby was also 1-for-1 with two runs for GAC (17-3).
Shiloh 13, Central 2
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Amber Johnson had three hits and three RBIs to lead Shiloh past Central Gwinnett 13-2 on Wednesday.
Jenna Carr and Ayana Spivey (two RBIs) each had a pair of hits for the Generals (13-5).
Lizzy Humes was the winning pitcher and struck out six.
Lanier 10, Johnson 1
SUGAR HILL -- Lanier crushed Johnson 10-1 on Tuesday.
Ciera Fackler, Kaylee Ramos and Lauren Pettit were all 2-for-2. Shelby Threlkeld was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Hannah Coursey was 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Holland Coursey was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Wesleyan splits matches
NORCROSS -- Wesleyan lost to Woodward Academy 25-22, 25-16 and defeated Grayson 25-15, 25-7 to split a pair of matches Wednesday.
Anna Davis had 10 kills, Alana Broe had seven and Jennifer Miller added 14 digs for the Wolves (15-8). Callie Bivings had 23 assists and eight digs.-- From staff reports
