To honor the lives lost on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., the Georgia Gwinnett College Police Honor Guard has scheduled a flag ceremony for Sunday morning.
At 8:44 a.m., the honor guard will lower flags at the campus flagpoles. At 8:46 a.m., an outdoor chime will sound 11 times to mark the time Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
Georgia Gwinnett College President Daniel J. Kaufman commented that it's "an important time to remember those who lost their lives, their families and the first responders who dutifully sacrificed their lives to protect and serve the citizens of this great nation."
The memorial ceremony is open to the public.
