Prep Roundup: Mill Creek Falls To No. 2 North Cobb In Two Sets

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek split a pair of matches as the Hawks defeated Mountain View 26-23, 25-17 and fell to the state's No. 2 team, North Cobb, by a 25-19, 25-16 score. Kim Brody had 13 kills and Ashley Isaac had 15 digs as the Hawks moved to 16-8 for the season.

Norcross takes pair, Duluth splits

DULUTH -- Norcross picked up two wins as the Blue Devils won a 25-23, 29-31, 27-25 thriller over Duluth and 25-21, 25-16 over Chamblee. Sydney Marshall had 19 kills and Kamilah Bakari had 14 kills and 11 blocks for Norcross (7-5). Sarah Ann Gratwick had 44 assists and Lindsay Holmes added 14 digs for the Blue Devils. Duluth rebounded to defeat Chamblee 21-25, 25-23, 25-14. Katie Powell led Duluth with 18 kills and nine blocks in the two matches while Stephanie Dixon 18 kills. Abby Powell added 16 digs and 15 kills and Lacey Ricks had 27 assists for the Wildcats (8-6).

Collins Hill wins two

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill swept a pair of matches as the Eagles knocked off Berkmar 25-8, 25-9 and Central Gwinnett 25-9, 25-13. Taylor Vold had 12 kills and Courtney Oster had nine kills for Collins Hill. Katherine Ahlswede added 31 assists, eight aces and seven digs for the Eagles while Sarah Stone had eight aces and six digs.

Parkview defeats Decatur, loses to Shiloh

LILBURN -- Parkview defeated Decatur 22-25, 25-12, 25-19 but fell to Shiloh 27-25, 25-21. Riley Weyher led the Panthers with 21 digs, eight kills and five aces, while Daron Blankenship had 29 digs. Courtney Duck added 12 kills and an assist and Meredith Pounds had four kills. Erin Gilleland added 13 assists and four aces.

GAC rolls past Pinecrest

CUMMING -- Greater Atlanta Christian took down Pinecrest Academy 25-16, 25-17, 25-11 in a best-of-five match as the Lions upped their record to 15-3. Morgan McKnight had 11 kills while Ali Cox and Emma Taylor had six kills each. Catherine Chason added 12 digs and Rachel Waldrop had 31 assists for GAC.

Hebron drops two, Wesleyan splits

JOHNS CREEK -- Hebron Christian Academy fell to Johns Creek 25-13, 25-7 and Wesleyan 25-20, 25-17 as the Lions dropped to 8-10 overall. Maddi Roof had 10 kills, Eden Murray six kills and Savannah Blalock 15 assists for Hebron. Johns Creek also defeated Wesleyan 25-10, 21-25, 30-28. Anna Davis led Wesleyan with 19 kills while Katie Van Laeke had 13 kills. Alana Broe added 10 kills, Ansley Maughon had 19 digs and Jennifer Miller 34 digs for the Wolves. Callie Bivings also had 42 assists and 18 digs for Wesleyan.

Meadowcreek loses two

NORCROSS -- Meadowcreek dropped two matches as the Mustangs fell to Lanier 25-10, 25-7 and Gainesville 25-14, 25-11.

SOFTBALL

North Gwinnett 5, Mill Creek 4

HOSCHTON -- Alaina Hall threw a complete game in the circle and North Gwinnett held off a Mill Creek rally to take a 5-4 win in Region 7-AAAAA. Hall also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a single, double, one run scored and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, while Tori Prince went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kelsey Summers, Amanda Shimmin and Miranda Strother each went 1-for-2 with RBI singles for North (12-6, 4-2). Tori Mitchell took the loss for Mill Creek (10-2-1, 6-1). Nikki Sagermann led the Hawks' attack with a 2-for-2 day at the plate, including a homer and a single, while Chandler Griffin had a two-run homer.

Dacula 5, Parkview 1

DACULA -- Keeli Waugh scattered six hits and struck out six while allowing just one unearned run in the circle to lead Dacula to a 5-1 win over Parkview in Region 8-AAAAA action. Taryn Anthony and Katy Daniels each went 1-for-2 with a run scored while Brittany Taylor and Cassidy Culbertson were both 1-for-2 with an RBI. Anthony also picked up an RBI as the Falcons moved to 7-8 overall and 1-3 in the region. Madison Moseley and Olivia Gonzalez were both 1-for-2 for Dacula.

Archer 9, Shiloh 1

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Madison Wyngaert allowed just one unearned run on three hits and struck out four as Archer defeated Shiloh 9-1 in Region 8-AAAAA. Nicole Roberts was 2-for-2 with a run and Alesha Mann was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Nani Cabrales was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Holli Sturgill was 2-for-3 with a double. Sharday Smith added a three-run homer for the Tigers (14-4, 4-0).

Collins Hill 10, Peachtree Ridge 2

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill blew open a tight game with four runs in the fourth inning as the Eagles rolled to a 10-2 win over Peachtree Ridge in Region 7-AAAAA action. Collins Hill added two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to cruise home with the win. Amanda Chance was the winning pitcher in the circle. Brittnay Roley and Calli Star both went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Collins Hill. Danielle Patterson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Brea Dickey was 2-for-4 with a double for the Eagles' offense. Sarah Walker paced Peachtree Ridge (12-7, 5-3) with a 1-for-3 day at the plate, including a double and two RBIs. Sam Pierannunzi, Chandler Frisbie, Maiah Johnson and Andie McGregor each had one hit for the Lions.

Brookwood 8, South Gwinnett 0

SNELLVILLE -- Brandi Jones and Rachel Hill combined to strike out 15 batters as Brookwood shut out South Gwinnett 8-0 in Region 8-AAAAA. Ambree Muller was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three stolen bases. Jenny Blackwell and Taylor Sexton each had a hit and a run scored. Emily Brantley also scored a run and had an RBI whle Mandi Blackwell knocked in three runs with a triple.

Grayson 15, Central 0

LOGANVILLE -- Shelby Smith went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Brittany King was 2-for-3 with five RBIs as Grayson rolled to a 15-0 victory over Central Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAA. Breanna Ethridge picked up the win in the circle, striking out six and allowing just two hits. Ethridge also went 2-for-2 at the plate. Niki Cook was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Kayla Ross was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Kylie Klim was 1-for-2, Alex Sexton was 1-for-3 and Keelyn Hanley was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI for Grayson (11-9, 3-2).

Duluth 5, Mountain View 2

DULUTH -- Jeanie Perrucci and Jessica Brown combined to hold Mountain View to two runs as Duluth took a 5-2 win in Region 7-AAAAA. Brown also went 1-for-2 at the plate as did Gracie Delorenzo and Toni Perrucci. Cassie Kooker added a 2-for-3 night to lead Duluth (7-5, 3-4).

GAC 15, Decatur 3

DECATUR -- Natalie de Latour struck out nine and picked up the win in the circle as Greater Atlanta Christian pounded Decatur 15-3 in five innings. GAC (11-2) got a 4-for-4 day at the plate from Sierra Lawrence, who had a triple, double, four runs scored and three RBIs. Jordan Smalls went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Celine Talley was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Krista Gustafson had a triple with two runs scored and Mary Johnson was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Wesleyan 11, Providence 2

LILBURN -- CaraMia Tsirigos went 2-for-2, including a grand slam, and drove in five runs as Wesleyan defeated Providence 11-2 in five innings. Dacia Jones picked up the win and allowed just four hits while striking out two for the Wolves. Jones also went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a home run. Caitlin Crabill also went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI as Wesleyan improved to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-A.
