BREAKDOWN: Athens Christian at Hebron Christian

Athens Christian Eagles (8-A)

Coach: Steve Brooks

Record: 0-2

Last week: Lost to Landmark Christian 69-28

Hebron Christian Lions (8-A)

Coach: Sal Battaglia

Record: 0-2

Last week: Lost to Southside Chr. (S.C.) 46-21

The Lions christen their new stadium by welcoming the Eagles to town and hope to defend their turf and get their first win of the season.

“It’s huge,” Battaglia said of Hebron’s first true home game. “We’ve talked about it (all week). I want that thought coming to them. Nobody’s ever going to be able to take that away from them. Home field is going to be huge, and it could make a difference. At least, we’re hoping it does.”

If the Lions are to give Battaglia his first win as their head coach and bounce back after two losses to start the season, they will need to show a little more offense.

The hope is that the addition of receiver Tyler Mack to the lineup, which has allowed Lew Stephens to rotate from his normal slot receiver and share snaps at quarterback with Marshall Williams, will help give Hebron several more options and Athens Christian and other defenses multiple looks to deal with.

“When I was at North Oconee, we sometimes shuttled four quarterbacks in and out,” Battaglia said. “This allows us a great deal of flexibility.”

Last meeting: Hebron won 22-21 last year
