Winder water main financed by environmental loan

WINDER -- Gov. Nathan Deal announced last week a Winder project is among the nearly $9 million in environmental infrastructure projects approved for financing by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority.

The city was approved for a $1.2 million loan to install 12,000-linear feet of water main. According to a press release, the city will pay 2.44 percent interest on a 10-year loan made available because Winder has been recognized as a WaterFirst community.

"Investing in Georgia's environmental infrastructure supports economic growth, conserves natural resources and helps to meet the future water needs of our state," Deal said in a press release. "The projects approved (last week) promote water system efficiency and ensure clean and safe water for our citizens and the environment."
