PREP ROUNDUP: Hawks stay unbeaten with comeback over Lions

DULUTH -- Mill Creek pulled out an 8-7 win over Peachtree Ridge in an international tiebreaker in Region 7-AAAAA action as the Hawks remained undefeated in the region.

Mill Creek trailed 6-3 heading to the sixth inning, but the Hawks scored four in the top half to take a 7-6 lead. Peachtree Ridge rallied to tie it at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Tori Mitchell, who improved to 5-0 in the circle, went the full eight innings and allowed 10 hits and three earned runs to get the win. Jenna Holland went 2-for-3 with a single and a double while Nikki Sagermann was 3-for-4 with a home run, double, single, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Hawks (9-1-1, 5-0). Chandler Griffin was 2-for-4 with a two-run shot and three RBIs and Breanna Buckley was 2-for-4 with a single, double and two RBIs for Mill Creek. Sarah Walker picked up the loss for Peachtree Ridge to fall to 5-4.

Walker also went 3-for-3 at the plate while Chandler Frisbie was 3-for-4 and Kayla Jones was 2-for-4. Sam Pierannunzi went 1-for-2 for the Lions, who fall to 11-6 overall and 4-2 in the region.


Duluth 10, Norcross 2

DULUTH -- Lauren Blanco went 2-for-2 with a homer and five RBIs as Duluth rolled past Norcross 10-2 in five innings. Gracie Delorenzo, Toni Perrucci and Jeanie Perrucci each went 1-for-1 as Duluth improved to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in Region 7-AAAAA. Jeanie Perrucci picked up the win for the Wildcats.

Brookwood 7, Shiloh 0

SNELLVILLE -- Sisters Brandi and Ansley Jones combined to throw a two-hit complete-game shutout in the circle as Brookwood defeated Shiloh 7-0. Susan Norris led Brookwood (16-1, 3-0) with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, including three RBIs and a run scored. Daniella Ulloa was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Taylor Sexton added a double. Ambree Muller and Taiylor Reinhart each had a hit and a run scored.

South Gwinnett 17, Central Gwinnett 8

SNELLVILLE -- Christina Skipper picked up the win in the circle and also went 2-for-5 at the plate with an RBI to lead South Gwinnett to a 17-8 win over Central Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAA action. Taylor Hogan was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Jayjay Simao was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and an inside-the-park homer to lead the Comets' attack. Andrea Rosario added a 3-for-4 day at the plate with three RBIs while LeeAnn Rawson was 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple and two RBIs for South, which won its first region game since 2009.

Collins Hill 13, Mountain View 4

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Brittany Roley and Shay Halstead each went 3-for-4 and Aeshia Miles picked up the win in the circle as Collins Hill knocked off Mountain View 13-4. Emily Buck added a 3-for-5 effort at the plate for Collins Hill (9-3, 4-2) while Danielle Patterson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Brea Dickey was 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs for the Eagles.

Parkview 8, Grayson 0

LOGANVILLE -- Amanda Chambers tossed a no-hitter and struck out six as Parkview shut out Grayson 8-0. Morgan Robinson went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, double and four RBIs for the Panthers (6-3, 2-1) while Eryn Stepp was 4-for-4 with a homer, two doubles and two RBIs. Ally Claytor was 3-for-4 and Taylor Muirhead went 1-for-3 with a triple for Parkview.

Oconee County 10, Lanier 0

BUFORD -- Lanier dropped a 10-0 decision to visiting Oconee County. Kaylee Ramos took the loss in the circle and picked up the only hit for the Longhorns (7-12, 4-2).

GAC sweeps doubleheader over Woodward Academy

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian rolled to a 7-5, 7-1 doubleheader sweep over Woodward Academy as the Spartans improved to 10-2 for the season. Brianna Stewart was the winning pitcher in the first game, allowing just one earned run and improving to 6-0 for the year. Natalie deLatour threw a no-hitter in the second game for GAC and improved to 4-2 on the season. Sierra Lawrence led the way at the plate for GAC by going 5-for-7 in the two games -- including a home run, double, five runs and five RBIs. Krista Gustafson had two hits, including a triple, while Jill Banner had a double. Celine Talley added two RBIs and Mary Johnson had two runs scored for the Spartans.

Buford 6, Blessed Trinity 2

BUFORD -- Buford got a complete game in the circle from Tessa Daniels as Buford defeated Blessed Trinity 6-2. Daniels threw a four-hitter as Blessed Trinity batters grounded into 12 outs during the game. Buford (6-6) won for the 27th straight time over Region 6-AA competition dating back to October 2007. Kallie Case was 4-for-4 with a pair of singles, homer, triple, RBI and stolen base. Rebekah Rude went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Lexi Overstreet was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple while Lanier Paul was 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Wolves.


Peachtree Ridge takes two from Norcross, South Gwinnett

NORCROSS -- Peachtree Ridge took two matches as the Lions knocked off Norcross 25-18, 25-14 and South Gwinnett 25-9, 25-12. Eleonora Porazzi had nine aces, 11 kills and 5 digs and Lucy Riddle had 15 assists, five aces, four kills and three blocks as the Lions improved to 15-4. Tae Thomas added five kills and two blocks while Lauren Greene had nine aces, three kills, two assists and one block. Joy Davis was a perfect 20-for-20 on serves, including two aces. Norcross bounced back to knock off South Gwinnett 25-15, 25-17 to improve to 5-3 on the season. Lyndsay Holmes had 13 digs and Sarah Ann Gratwick had five aces and seven assists for the Blue Devils.

Collins Hill splits with Brookwood, Forest Park

SUWANEE -- Brookwood took a three-set win over Collins Hill as the Broncos posted a 25-22, 24-26, 25-13 win over the Eagles. Collins Hill came back to get a 25-11, 25-6 win over Forest Park. Sam Rivera had 16 kills and four blocks while Katherine Ahlswed had 45 assists and five aces for Collins Hill. Jessie Price added five blocks and six kills and Sarah Stone had 19 digs and three aces for the Eagles.

North Gwinnett takes two

SNELLVILLE -- North Gwinnett picked up two wins as the Bulldogs beat Shiloh 25-20, 25-8 and Whitefield Academy 25-7, 25-17 to improve to 19-2 for the season. Anna Mullins had 11 kills, Matia Hughes 20 digs and Alex Tanks 36 assists for North.

Parkview drops two

MILTON -- Parkview dropped two matches as the Panthers fell to host Milton 25-22, 25-6 and South Forsyth 25-14, 23-25, 25-23. Daron Blankenship had 36 digs while Ally Peatross had five digs, three kills and 1 blocks. Courtney Duck added eight kills and a block and Rachel White had eight kills, two aces and a block.

Duluth takes two, Grayson splits

LOGANVILLE -- Duluth won twice as the Wildcats defeated Central Gwinnett 25-13, 25-8 and 25-21, 23-25, 26-24. Duluth (7-5) was led by Katie Powell's 16 kills, Lauren Cole's eight aces and Diana Maglioni's 16 digs for the Wildcats. Grayson (6-6) did rebound as the Rams knocked off Central Gwinnett 25-9, 25-9. Alex Daniel had four kills and three aces in the win over Central while Hannah Johnson had three kills and five digs and Erica Brown had six kills against the Wildcats.

GAC takes down Wesleyan

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Wesleyan 25-12, 25-17, 25-13 in a best-of-five as the two schools played in the Serve For The Cure match for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Dede Bohannon had 17 kills and 11 digs while Morgan McKnight had nine kills for GAC. Catherine Chason added 22 digs, Jess Baker three blocks and Rachel Waldrop four aces and 29 assists for the Spartans, who improved to 12-3 overall and defeated the Wolves for the first time ever.

Buford drops pair

SUWANEE -- Buford dropped two matches as the Wolves fell to Lambert 25-23, 25-22 and Roswell 25-9, 21-25, 25-12. Maggie Roper had 18 kills, 14 digs and six aces for Buford (6-5) while Jessica Falletta had 10 kills and 14 digs. Bailey Hicks added 28 assists and 12 digs and McKenzie Darrah had five kills and three blocks.

Providence takes two from Chamblee, Tucker

LILBURN -- Providence Christian Academy (12-10) swept a pair of matches as the Stars defeated Chamblee 25-15, 25-17 and Tucker 25-12, 25-22.

Hebron wins two over Jefferson, Dacula

DACULA -- Hebron Christian Academy took a pair of wins as the Lions defeated Jefferson 29-27, 19-25, 25-21 and knocked off Dacula 25-18, 25-17. Hebron (8-8) was led by Maddie Roof's 13 kills and Eden Murray's 10 kills. Mollie Russell added eight kills while Mini Schulte had six kills. Savannah Blalock had 31 assists in the two matches for the Lions.
